Mexican producer Lyo XS debuts on Plasmodia with Borde, a collection of 8 tracks that listens to the edges the city turns its back on.

Field recordings from the Sierra de Guadalupe and the streets of Ecatepec capture the friction of an unyielding nature and the layered weight of an accumulating periphery. From that physical edge, Lyo XS weaves techno, noise, dub and percussive rhythms into a sound in which they brush against each other yet never merge, moving between open expanses and suffocating densities. Music that inhabits the margin on its own terms.

Borde does not document the marginal from the outside. In Latin America, the urban periphery is not merely a geographic location but a convergence point for the tensions the formal city prefers to ignore — a space in which collective memory coexists with systemic violence and, even so, distinct forms of humanity and possibility persist. From within those territories, the album becomes a sonic archive that lives at the place the disparate touch but don't resolve, in the limit, in the friction, in what remains when two worlds meet and hold their ground.

The album emerged from a live audiovisual show that debuted at MUTEK Mexico 2025 in collaboration with visual artist San Joserra. Through this piece, both creators explore the experience of
living on the periphery, posing a constant quest toward the center while navigating the complex boundaries of everyday life. The work thus becomes an auditory and visual testimony to the journey through these everyday boundaries.

La productora mexicana Lyo XS debuta en Plasmodia con Borde, un álbum de 8 piezas que cartografía el límite entre la ciudad y lo que ésta elige ignorar.

Grabaciones de campo de la Sierra de Guadalupe y las calles de Ecatepec capturan la fricción de una naturaleza que no cede y el peso acumulado de una periferia que se estratifica. Desde ese límite físico, Lyo XS teje techno, noise, dub y ritmos percusivos en un sonido en el que se rozan sin fundirse, moviéndose entre expansiones abiertas y densidades asfixiantes. Música que habita el margen en sus propios términos.

Borde no documenta lo marginal desde afuera. En América Latina, la periferia urbana no es solo una ubicación geográfica sino un punto de convergencia para las tensiones que la ciudad formal prefiere ignorar. Es un espacio en el que la memoria colectiva coexiste con la violencia sistémica y donde, aun así, persisten formas distintas de humanidad y posibilidad. Desde adentro de esos territorios, el álbum se convierte en un archivo sonoro que vive en el lugar donde lo disímil se roza sin resolverse, en el límite, en la fricción, en lo que queda cuando dos mundos se encuentran y sostienen su tensión.

El álbum surgió de un show audiovisual en vivo debutado en MUTEK México 2025 en colaboración con el artista visual San Joserra. A través de esta pieza, ambos creadores exploran los sentires de habitar la periferia, planteando una búsqueda constante hacia el centro mientras se atraviesan los bordes complejos de la cotidianidad. La obra se convierte así en un testimonio sonoro y visual del tránsito por esos límites del día a día.
