How to Reinvent Yourself and Start a New Chapter

What if the life you’re living in now isn't the life you’re meant to stay in? What if you could start writing a new chapter today? In this unforgettable conversation, Mel sits down with one of her favorite authors, John Grisham, whose books have sold nearly half a billion copies worldwide. But this isn't a typical interview about having a legendary career. This is a deeply personal conversation about reinvention, rejection, purpose, and the “golden moments” that change the entire direction of your life. 35 years ago, Mel was starting her first year of law school when she picked up John Grisham’s The Firm, and it opened up a whole new world of possibilities for her life. John would call that a “golden moment”. A moment that becomes the catalyst for a whole new chapter of your life.  You are going to hear why that moment was so special for Mel as well as John sharing his own “golden moments.”  He tells the story behind his own unexpected path: failing English, drifting through college, practicing law, and being rejected as a writer over and over again before writing the book that changed his life forever. You’ll learn: -How to stop treating rejection as proof that you should quit -Why your current path is not your final path -What to do when you feel trapped in a job, career, or identity that no longer fits -Why “one page a day” is a powerful strategy for changing your life -How to create space for a dream, even when your life is busy -What to do when you feel like you’re drifting and don’t know your next move -How to recognize the “golden moments” that can change the direction of your life -Why discipline and consistency matter more than waiting to feel inspired -How to use the stories, setbacks, and detours in your life as material for reinvention -Why it’s never too late to start writing your next chapter This episode is for anyone who feels stuck, discouraged, or unsure what comes next. Because your current path is not your final path, and as John Grisham proves, there is always more of your story left to write.  For more resources related to today’s episode, click here for the podcast episode page.  If you liked the episode, check out this one next: This Conversation Will Change How You Think About Your Entire Life Connect with Mel:   Order Mel’s product, Pure Genius ProteinGet Mel’s newsletter, packed with tools, coaching, and inspiration.Get Mel’s #1 bestselling book, The Let Them Theory Watch the episodes on YouTube Follow Mel on Instagram The Mel Robbins Podcast Instagram Mel's TikTok Subscribe to SiriusXM Podcasts+ to listen to new episodes ad-freeDisclaimer  Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. • AI and trade: Will US and China agree?

AI and trade: Will US and China agree?

US President Donald Trump and China’s President Xi Jinping will meet in a summit at the White House this week for the first time since 2023, following on from a President Trump’s visit to China earlier this year in which a truce was agreed. Before the truce was agreed, both the US and China had imposed high tarrifs on products coming in from the other country. The truce will end in November and many experts say that the two countries will try to extend their truce and make more agreements on trade. Alongside trade tariffs, there are other potential disagreements between the two leaders. For example over AI and the war in Iran. There are talks about a warning system for AI that Trump plans to share with Xi. Follow Whatever Glitters In The Corner

What does a seventy-year-old man who has never left his father's tent have in common with the first murder ever committed? In this lecture, Jordan Peterson works through the story of Cain and Abel and arrives somewhere nobody expects: a precise, almost clinical account of how resentment is manufactured, step by step, in an ordinary person who believes he has been treated unfairly. Along the way he explains why Freud and Jung both thought Nietzsche's solution was impossible, why your reputation is a better place to store wealth than your bank account, what you are actually doing when you tell your son it matters how he plays the game, and the one experiment he ran on himself that he says is worth the price of the ticket on its own. Then Konstantin Kisin comes out to argue that none of it requires God at all, and the conversation turns to the pill, the family, and a question about what has to change in a culture before a technology becomes thinkable. The story of Cain and Abel turns out to be less about an ancient crime than about a door you have already been offered, and whether you opened it. This lecture was filmed on April 9, 2024, in New York City, New York. Unlock the ad-free experience of The Jordan B. Peterson Podcast and dive into exclusive bonus content on DailyWire+. If You’re Struggling With Money, Listen to This

In this episode, you’ll learn some of the best financial advice you’ll ever hear - no matter what your financial situation is right now. If getting ahead only seems to be getting harder, and you’re tired of living paycheck to paycheck, you need to hear this: Harder doesn’t have to mean hopeless. Today, Mel sits down with Vivian Tu – bestselling author, and the personal finance educator millions know as Your Rich BFF –  for a conversation about what to do when you’re over feeling broke, behind, or overwhelmed by money. Vivian has been there, and she knows how hard it is to get ahead right now when everything costs more and your paycheck just doesn’t stretch the way it used to. Her message is simple: You don’t have to be broke forever. In this blunt but compassionate conversation, she’s sharing practical moves that can help you start taking your power back – whether you’re buried in debt, starting with nothing saved, worried you’ll never own a home, behind on retirement, or wondering where to begin. You’ll learn:  -Why “just spend less” is bad advice — and the system that works better -The painless way to pay off your debt   -How to get the raise you deserve   -How to think about retirement when you feel hopelessly behind  -The home-buying question most people never ask  -How living with your parents is a power move  -The beginner investing mistake no one warns you about  -The money conversation couples should have much earlier  -The mindset shift from feeling powerless to taking control  Vivian says money is a tool, and the point of having more of it is power, freedom, and the ability to feel in control again – or maybe for the first time. Life isn’t always fair, and getting ahead right now feels harder than it should, but Vivian says there are still moves you can make. You’re not the problem, but you do get to be the solution. • How to know when you have enough for your PhD?

    21 Sept

How to know when you have enough for your PhD?

How do you know when you’ve done enough for your PhD? Research rarely feels truly finished- every answer seems to uncover another question. In this episode, we explore how to recognise when your thesis contains enough evidence, makes a clear contribution and tells a coherent story. We’ll share three practical tests for judging whether your research is complete, explain how to agree a realistic finish line with your supervisors, and help you separate what is essential before submission from what can wait for future research. We also tackle the perfection trap and why doing more work does not always produce a stronger thesis. If you’re struggling to stop researching, start writing or finally submit, this episode will help you decide when enough really is enough.
