about

From a milestone of disparate encounters emerges a common language. In the dark, circling lines trace their shared trajectories, forming phrases yet to be deciphered. poems gathers former guests and likeminded producers for their first compilation "Quiet Folds The Pressure Into Stillwater Hum". The 15 tracks stand in line with the collective’s métier: bundling an explorative lust for the unconventional into raw energy for unfiltered, egalitarian floors. As secretive memorials, they are hiding something reflective in the cliffs of their sparseness. By surges of breaks on deep but violent dubs with abstract, discreet backgrounds, we find throughout the compilation an invasive neurological quality. At times, active modulated resonances induce an almost oldschool vibe, while skewed dynamic rhythms center the tracks firmly on the cold edge of experimentalism. They are united by an atmosphere of a new dawn, in which it is not yet light, encouraging us again and again to dwell in moments of disorientation and readjustment. The compilation proves what the many nights laid out by poems so far already hypothesized: It is the listener who writes them.

“What You Say”, “Arcana” or “Garis Bawah” surround us with pronounced layered percussion where dangerous hisses trap steaming hot air released by their animating hunted impacts. We can glimpse systems of smothered streaks that are entirely under the control of an unseen puppet master in “Exit Scam”, “Anotona” and “I Think Therefore I Rethink”. Boldly playful movements, which dare to confuse and confront us with our internal inconsistencies. “Rumours”, “M05DB(rs)” or “Culture” unleash giant creatures endearing us to pelagic dreaming. Animalic whispers and staccato babbling stroke through frightening depths of our subconscious undercurrents. Witnessing a gut-wrenching Start-and-Stop abrasiveness in “Virtue Signal”, “Latence” or “Coldblood Dew”, we are alarmed from intricately designed silent screams cut by larger-than-life snares. “OLED”, “Social Scum” or “Pulled” proliferate rare hopeful pads, despite the chaos of unrelenting hype-cycles. They nurture an alternative kind of emotional intelligence that questions us how we constantly relate to our own destruction.
