Developer Joe H aka JHDev2006 recently released a PC version of the original Super Mario Bros for the NES. There’s both Windows and Linux versions available and you’ll need an original SMB ROM for it to run. It supports HD and ultra-wide resolutions and overall looks and plays great.

This is a very well made hack. It’s more a remake than a master. It’s looks beautiful and the added effects fit right in. There’s achievements, and time trials for levels and whole worlds.

It’s SMB1, Lost Levels, Nippon Somthing (it’s actually a fun game mode), and a whole new original game.

It also has an editor they are updating to this day.
