That’s true, but there are also massive economies of scale when you can afford the big Nvidia gpus and share them among many people.
I agree. I use openrouter myself.

Programming•Copilot just got a massive downgrade for students
720·1 month agoIn general I agree with you, but llms are the one exception where it’s not practical and not cost effective to run them locally. If you want to use them, the better option is by far to pay someone for the service.

United States | News & Politics@lemmy.ml•The US slips to its lowest-ever rank in a global corruption index
31·2 months agoThere are lots of countries where you need to bribe government officials in order to achieve the simple things. The US is fortunately still far from that level.

News@lemmy.world•Your grocery store is a bewildering sea of overly processed food. Here’s why and what to do
71·4 months agoI completely agree with you. I think what the US needs is more readily available AND relatively healthy food options. As a European, walking through the isles of an American grocery shop is utterly depressing.

Utility bots that are summoned on demand, probably, as long as we have a good process to kick them out if they are not helpful.
Regular commenter bots? Certainly not. The point of lemmy is to talk with other humans.

Global News@lemmy.zip•More than half of the world’s CO₂ emissions in 2023 come from just 36 fossil fuel companies, report finds
6·1 year agoThis is both true and a bit dumb. We are all responsible for these emissions by buying and burning these fuels (most of the time indirectly).
