I used to be completely sober all the way through my 30s. I tried things later and they really helped me see life from different angles. I didn’t try shrooms until I felt I was ready. They are easily one of the best things that ever happened to me. I would not suggest trying them unless you feel comfortable, are in a very familiar environment, and you have a trustworthy, caring friend to keep you company.

I thought there were others like this, too. I would expect one named Kairos to explain why this doesn’t apply.
There’s a tonneau cover website that has a banner asking for people to call him before placing an order because he can save you money. You could just order the tonneau cover and pay without talking, but I thought what the hell?
I called and it’s just the owner sitting in his warehouse. He explained that his contracts prevent him from quoting anything less in print, but over the phone I just told him which one I wanted and he said “That one? My margins kinda thin so I can only discount it by about 8% or so. That work for you?” Lowest price by a good amount and ended up ordering.
So not always a bad idea. I suppose the website screamed “I’m just a dude sitting in a warehouse waiting for you to call me and wouldn’t know how to sell your info even if I wanted to.”

9·8 days agoChinatown holds up so well to modern viewing. Incredible film. When I first watched it I had already heard that last line used over and over as a joke in general culture. Hearing that line for the first time in context is like a punch to the gut. One of the best endings ever.
Any relationship where one partner is fixing the mental health of the other seems dubious, even with magical thinking.

That’s exactly what this post is saying.
It’s not a wild thing for people to misunderstand the difference between egoism and egotism. You’re castigating the community over the misunderstanding of a single letter between a word that is common and one that is niche, and in a way that screams of your own ego.
Ironically, amusingly, your post drips of egotism.
I actually really like Bookie.
Asking Lost to give you answers is the reason none of us talk about Lost.
The trick to enjoyable work isn’t finding something you enjoy, it’s finding something you get lost in. Being mentally aware helps greatly with this. Makes it so that I don’t feel exhausted at the end of a work day.
You should try dona sauce. It’s just roasted jalapenos emulsified in oil, usually olive oil. Doesn’t leave as fast but the roasting and oil tempers the trailing heat quite a bit.
I have a good Sichuan place near me. Sichuan heat can sneak up on you, so people who pull this are liable to be leaving in an ambulance. Makes it difficult for me to get the authentic experience.
That’s how I feel about spicy food in Texas. “Texas Spicy Chili” anywhere else in the US is going to be way hotter than what is generally found in Texas.
You’d agree with more atheists than you’d think with that comment.
I got a hoop. Kids from blocks around played on it. City shut it down.

Technology@lemmy.world•79% of smart dash cams we tested had security flaws and concerns, and in some cases they were breaking the law - Out of 28, only six didn't have any concerns.English
2·25 days agoThat’s because low res is perfectly fine for dash cams. You need super high res and to be pretty close in order to capture license plates, so you shouldn’t be relying on the cam to grab the plates. The best thing to do in any situation is to say the plate out loud to capture it on the audio.
Have you ever considered that trans people are the reason that we don’t keep progressing forever? /s
I saw a 1995 documentary called Screamers that attempts to accurately depict this.

Does any part of this suggest otherwise?
