1·5 days agoAre they going to recognise time served if they find him guilty?
The article says: “If found guilty, he could face up to 65 years in a US prison.” So the three years time served may be small change.

I was going to nominate it, but while the video was posted in the last week, the song itself was released in 2024 according to the Bandcamp listing.

Meta@aussie.zone•THIS IS A TEST - Sexing an albino echidna- it ain't easy! (video)English
2·1 month agoNo problem. A trick you might find handy is that you can upload an image to this site by putting the image in the body of the post temporarily (first you’ll have to download it, of course). Once you’ve uploaded it into the post body you can grab the image URL (now on aussie.zone) from there to put in the ‘Thumbnail URL’ field, and then delete the image from the post body.
Sometimes you can get problems if you try to use an image URL that’s hosted on another site, because those sites prevent ‘hotlinking’ of images a.k.a. ‘piggybacking’. Lemmy doesn’t automatically re-host external images set in ‘Thumbnail URL’, so doing it yourself with that trick above may help you avoid issues.

2·1 month agoDid you try putting the link in the ‘URL’ field and the custom image in the ‘Thumbnail URL’? That looks to me to get the result you want.
I’ve made an example post on c/Meta: https://aussie.zone/post/30690873
Does that look like what you want?

Australia@aussie.zone•Punters 'unlikely' to see millions in ticket sales refunded as long-running festival shuttersEnglish
2·1 month agoI would guess the artists will also need to get mostly paid with a cancellation as late as this. Three weeks out, the musical acts have spent money on travel costs, support staff, costumes, pyrotechnics, gear hire, etc., and they’ve also forgone booking other gigs for those dates.
Basically, everyone the festival would have paid, they’re going to need to pay a significant amount, or even the full amount, when they’re cancelling so late.
Add to that, they probably cancelled because they didn’t sell enough tickets, and so they don’t have that much cash laying around to begin with.

2·1 month agoI’m not an expert, but albinism is generally recessive, so if they breed an albino with a non-albino it’s very unlikely any offspring will have albinism.

Australian Politics@aussie.zone•Former defence leaders say oil wars threaten our security, and climate change deepens the dangerEnglish
4·1 month agoAll are in thrall to the amoral leadership of the fossil fuel and finance industries, determined to maximise short-term profit regardless of the consequences. There is no evidence that either the political or business leadership have the capacity or courage to face the big threats we face, the security implications of the crisis in the Gulf being just one of many.
Not mincing words!

2·1 month agoDo I take it that the point of the whole post is that the Libs and Nats are kissing and making up?
The point of the original post? Just observing how bizarre Matt Canavan’s leadership victory speech was: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ud34GCttids
Posted the pic of the pair of them just because both Coalition leaders are total clowns.
Libs and Nats already formally patched things up and reentered their coalition agreement in early February. I don’t know if Canavan is any better aligned with Angus Taylor than Littleproud was. Maybe in style? It hasn’t been been reported as positive or negative for the durability of the coalition agreement. I think, though, that his hard stance against climate action could cause disharmony in the Coalition when the Libs want to hold onto or win back seats from Teals.
