Promises to Keep (PTK) is a queer, furry, safe-for-work (16+) visual novel. Please be warned that while entirely safe-for-work, PTK does feature themes of religious & familial trauma, injury, mental illness, minor body horror, grief, and homophobia. Some scenes may not be suitable for individuals with epilepsy (but there are in-game warnings for these scenes). v0.10 is now available (Day 4 for everyone's route except Ollie's). This version has around 13 hours of content in total, featuring an original soundtrack of 25+ songs, 100+ beautifully drawn backgrounds and fully-illustrated CGs, and hundreds of unique character sprites. A promise is the greatest, most significant thing anyone can make, in a reality where nothing is permanent. They are guarantees we make to one another, knowing that guarantees are fruitless; their existence contradicts the fleeting, temporary nature of our universe. Yet, they live on in the face of this futility.
So, what happens when the promises you make to yourself go cold? When your promises to others are left empty?
PTK follows the journey of a post-college snow leopard after returning to his childhood home. After a year of wishful thinking, living in the footsteps of his past and the childhood promises he has yet to fulfill, he's convinced there's nothing more for him here. Then, disaster strikes.
Join him in a story of deep self-discovery, reunion, and light-hearted romance as he grows with a vibrant group of individuals brought together by unlikely circumstances.

Please tell me, are we also ganna have some issue problem about familly or something like that where we suffered a lot too and the option where we decided with who we going to hang out with is also option who will find out about it later? and try to help us as well back? Keeping each other's secret promises?
I think that would be really nice thing to add as well like having someone to keep our secret and helping us will be like really sad,drama and happy scene too.
For some reason l always imagine in my mind that we are helping others with our kindness but non of them know we suffered as we a lot but choose to help others first before ourselfs.

A bit dramatic but I like the idea, otherwise the start with the depressed Leo would be too much weird. I don't think the family (or the parents) could be a problem, because in Theo's route we can choose how is our relation with our parents, but it would be fine seeing Leo with his own problems like the main character he is.
Well l know that it's kinda dramatic and you're right tho, but again who doesn't like a bit drama, am l right? ;/
Anyway, that's what l am saying! Having Leo as main character who is helping others while having his own problems in futhure next chapter would be really good.
I am not sure what actually would be a problem for Leo but l was thinking like, ldk, someone who actually didn't had kind parents at all, being Hated at home since childhood yet hide it that all by being kind to others like even since when he was with Ruffy together under tree and all. And so maybe after in day 5 or 6 when everyone is a bit better after Leo's help, Maybe, we could have some option about with who we will hang out with again and that also could be option for later who will find out about Leo secretly.
Not sure is this too much but that's just one guess what could've be so, hope at least they'll do something about Leo too.
Also about Leo's start being depressed, yes, maybe it would be kinda weird but it doesn't have to start like that, we could have later a dream of ourselfs that will remind us about past, just like we had from others.
I support the idea even if it needs some fine tuning

Hi, first I wanted to say that I love PTK. Theo is my favorite, but I like the whole visual novel, so thank you for your work. Now, my question: I know PTK is a SFW visual novel and all that, but I wanted to know if there will be any kissing scenes in the story? Sorry if the question is weird.
The first VN I ever read, and I'm still waiting for it to be finished, was Dawn Chorus. I loved it, and, after a couple other VNs, I thought nothing could ever compare to what Mikko's route made me feel.
But then, I discovered PTK, and omg. I'd say Mikko is still my favourite furry character ever, but boy has Theo started to grow on me... I'm not sure how many days PTK is going to end up having, but I'll wait eagerly for every Theo update ❤️
the first VN i ever read was this one and i fell in love with the Rofi INSTANTLY, but then after finishing all routes i felt like i needed MORE FVNs so i played Dawn Chorus and hoo boy idk if i like Mikko or Rune in that FVN more they are both so good
So, I Orginally got this game as a joke like "haha funny furry dating" till i really played it. This is one of the best piece of fiction ive had the joy of reading. i truly dont think ill find anything better than this game for a long long while.

To be honest, I've only played a small portion of this game and I can say it's very well written. It has an emotional impact, and the visuals are beautiful. The game seems well-written and mature (not shallow or edgy). I'd like to get to know these characters better and more deeply because I feel invested.
Unfortunately, I'm too afraid to continue playing it. As a religious person and also bisexual, I live somewhat divided between two worlds. Both aspects of who I am are important to me. When I see them portrayed in a conflicting way, I feel a certain unease. I have too many unpleasant memories associated with LGBT people who ridiculed my stance and tried to force me to change my views. On the other hand, there were also people who tried to force me to change my mind about my orientation. I want to believe that this topic will be addressed in the following sections with the greatest possible sensitivity, both for those traumatized by negative religious attitudes and for those who remain religious, and it's simply a part of who they are.
I've seen too much media portraying religious or clergy figures as solely evil... which honestly pains me. So I wish this project well and would like to learn more about the stories, but I don't think I'll be able to, unfortunately.

So we got idenity supression, religious trauma, family estrangement, and now likely PTSD. What's next for our group of lovable animals.
I really like where this is going. This time something was wrong with the download and I spent a night going through the story without skips. That turned out to better, since when I got to Artemis's day 4, it hit like a train.

Artemis's reactions, rage, fear, desperation, go through your soul, it's like you're In the same room, or even experiencing everything that poor blue jay is going through. Honestly, hats off to writers, for how just text and drawings can evoke deep emotions. Or its just me.
That rollercoaster of emotions on fourth day brought out a ton of character, and I really want to point out the dreams that snow leopard has about his friends. Such corny, maybe even cliche move and it all fits.
Looking forward to visit Theo's den again, can't imagine what Ollie will have to go through

I deleted the entire Game from All Folders, so that i basically have a clean install, so i can't accedentily skip. (With Epilepsie & Tremor i tend Press every Key on my Keyboard, trust me, it is annoying af XD)
If you want to, here is a simple Way on Windows for the Manual Download:
1. %appdata%/RenPy => There Should be a Folder called "PromisestoKeep" with a random Number, just delete it
2. Go to the Install Folder of your PTK Install, go into the Game Folder and just delete the save-Folder
Now you Should have a Clean Install on Manual Download
If you wan't to clean all data when you are using Itch: Do the same as the Manual one, and then you go to:
C:/Users/(xyz)/AppData/Roaming/RenPy/ => Delete the PromisestoKeep-Folder
xyz = There should be a itch-player folder, click that
If you want to know why there is this extra Folder: Itch basically creates a Virtual-Version of PTK and Executes it in the itch-player folder. This allowes for example that many people on you PC can run the same Game just with different Save-Files
On Android it is enough to just reinstall the app

Okay, i found this game while i was bored out of my mind one day, i think it was the update where hunter got his day 3 route released?
I'm leaving a comment because this recent update hits so close to home. I could relate to artemis being unsure of what their identity really is, as i was - to an extent in the same boat as him a few years ago. That was also during the time where me and my current boyfriend started talking to eachother and decided to take things seriously, the fights, the self-deprecation, the self-loathing..
It sent me right back to the times where me and my boyfriend had arguments because of me, and thinking back on it now - it shows how much i've changed and how much trust he put into me when i said that i'll "Work on myself" before i pulled off for a few months to - you guessed it - work on myself!!!
It's been 2 years or so since that happened, and we've been the happiest we've ever been being together. I'm also the happiest i've ever been with myself!
Getting that aside, what i'm really here for is to tell you lovely people who are working on this cute and wholesome VN - that it's a huge part of who i am now, the dialogues, the plots, the dynamics, all of it helped me find a steady path to walk on towards a better version of myself.
I thank all of you so much for giving great care and love for the game, and i hope it prospers in years to come <3
