You were always a snoop, weren’t you? That’s why you bought an old computer you saw lying among piles of junk at a garage sale. You didn’t even bother to format the computer before you turned it on. You were curious. After all, a personal computer is an extension of another person’s soul, all their secrets, projects, interactions.

“last seen online” is a psychological horror escape room, based on early flash games. Look through someone's computer files. Solve puzzles and discover the secrets that lie within the computer.

Featuring an original soundtrack from Entropic Sonics!

I found this game while i was just scrolling and I really like it. I like games where i snoop around an other person's coputer in general. I added this game to my "Reality check" collection, because it reminded me how, in the grand scheme of things, insignificant inconveniences like a failed test or misunderstandings or fights are. I especially liked the puzzle with the songs, because that's the exact kind of extra step that i would take when making a password. It's a great game, i will recommend it to my friends <3

too young for things like myspace, aim, etc. ✓

old enough to remember the family computer (dell dimension), windows xp, flash games, and discovering sites like pirate bay ✓

blending horror-like elements with early 2000's os/desktop aesthetics always scratches an itch, and i'm SO glad that i discovered this little gem!!

def 10/10- the storyline hit hard, the overall design was packed full of nostalgia, and the different puzzles and music were amazing as well (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶) ‹𝟹

Launched this game not expecting much and woah. It's quick but I liked it a lot. It's so well made. Oh I LOVED the puzzles too i brought out my notebook so excited. I knew this would be the end fast but I'm still wanting to play more... It's so honest of a game. Thank you :)

Holy shit this game was so good

While change is scary, forever is endlessly horrifying.

This was fun! It felt really satisfying to figure out the puzzles, especially the password to the zip file. I really enjoyed the music as well. This reminded me of a much spookier hypnospace outlaw. I really appreciate this genre of "old computer simulator". Its a genre of horror that I think has a lot of potential and I really like seeing what you were able to do with it.

noooooo

Esse jogo me surpreendeu, muito bom! A estética dos anos 2000 com o terror e puzzles foram bem interessantes. Amei o fato dele estar traduzido para o português. Parabéns aos envolvidos! :)

This game is so fun and the storyline hits a bit hard (the music is also great!!),
originally i wasn't going to play because of how similar the name is to no players online (because im used to  a lot of games being rip-offs of whatever they use as inspiration)
but now that i look at it i was being silly and i love how you used the game as inspo. <33
the puzzles are creative and add to the story too, though the door puzzle was a bit hard for me to figure out at first since i'm not a big puzzle player but the rest were easier!! lol

the one thing that got me though was seeing that you previously used ai "art" however i am glad you made the change last year to quit using that  and i'm curious at what the sequel has for us to play :3

oh my god I love "no players online." the creator and I had met up before and they were sooo soo sweet. the desktop exploration part of npo actually came out at the same time as my game but the twist and the atmosphere of the original FPS version in npo was a huge inspiration.

this reminds me, i've been meaning to edit my credits to add them as inspiration. (edit: nvm it was already there lmao)

This game was super fun, I enjoyed the creativity of the puzzles and how well it worked with the horror themed backstory. The songs were pretty awesome too lol. Congratulations on making a second one, I cant wait to play. :)

genuinely such a beautiful game, i loved every detail!! this was so creative and the message means so much to me. you have such an amazing talent, please nurture it

I don't usually officially log into Itch.io but I had to just leave a review! This game was so good, and genuinely had me tearing up at the end! Great job creating a world, and I loved how creative the puzzles were! The ending really hit me, but I won't spoil it here! 10/10!

man, what an increediiiiiiible game!!!! i loved every second of it, it’s a completely immersive experience, you don't even notice time passing... it took me a long time to solve the first puzzle, but by the third one, i’d gotten the hang of the game's mechanics, and it was so much fun to keep playing. the puzzles are really original, the fact that you have to listen to music to discover codes (which are really cool, btw), piece together letters, and pay attention to tiny details (like how many times a light flashes) is so creative. congratulations to everyone involved, you guys did a great job <3  the care put into this project really shines through ;) (and i don't know if it was an inspiration, but the game really reminded me of the anime "serial experiments lain". also, sorry if my writing is a bit hard to understand, i'm using a translator and my basic english skills). ANYWAY, congratulations!!!!!

I can tell this game is made with love. Everything is absolutely amazing! The music, the atmosphere, the visuals, and the storyline are all great. I love the puzzles and it took me some time to solve some of them but it is totally worth it. The story itself is sad, but the fact that a lot of people might relate to the game is even more saddening. Liz's message is what got me at the end. This is such an easy 5/5. Kudos!

I'm crying TvT

i really likes the game but near the end i understood nothing for how much it was going on, i couldn't read much but it was fun!!

(+1)

Oh I love the idea of this, so glad I found this game the other day and seeing that a sequel/remake is being made has me excited!

I really like the style and story of this game, how unsettling and sad it is. And let's be real, we all had that thought of going to a garage sale and thinking "I wonder what data is on that HDD" when spotting a PC xD

Though I wish there was a way to quit out of the OtherWorld program once you enter it.

The style being in Windows XP and the AOL/BuddyList chats really puts me back to using Skype in 2008 xD

And the LoseAmp player being a reference to WinAmp is also neat, with such a clever puzzle as well!

The only real "complaint" I would have is that the game feels rather short for what it is, but it does it's job well regardless!

(+1)

thank you thank you thank you for playing! and yes I agree that it's short. I actually made the game within 2-3 months (surprising no?) and also expected only 20 people to play it. I'm really glad that it's reached this many people at this point but there is so much polish and lore I wish I put more in, but the sequel will hopefully serve that :))

(+2)

really dont know why i ended up crying a little at the end. This is peak, keep continuing doing games like this TvT
