It’s a play on words. The Straw Man fallacy is where someone invents a fake target to it make it easier to attack rhetorically. Plenty of rightists use straw man arguments to attack the concept of feminism, misrepresenting it to make it easier to vilify. The comic depicts two characters that are the personification of right-wing straw man arguments about feminism, but elevated to a comical level of absurdity. In this case “feminists are recruiting children to help destroy the planet.”

Ye Power Trippin' Bastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com•7 community ban for saying Democrats are better than Republicans
1·19 hours agoI agree. In this case I think it was unfortunate wording that was perceived to carry a different meaning than intended. With discussions like this, especially among leftists, “less bad” or “less harmful” is preferred over “better,” since that carries some implied support.

Ye Power Trippin' Bastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com•7 community ban for saying Democrats are better than Republicans
162·1 day ago@calmblue75@lemmy.ml explained why your comments were being perceived as problematic but you didn’t didn’t read the room. You might actually be in agreement with the community, but your choice of words reads as “a little genocide is acceptable.”
All genocide is unacceptable. All mass murder is unacceptable. Putting the unacceptable onto a scale of better or worse is a liberal propaganda tactic that doesn’t fly in leftist spaces. Your mistake was conflating the concept of “voting to minimize harm in a captured system” with “my genocide is more ethical than their genocide,” which is a fallacy. No genocides are ethical.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump Posts Raw Video of Woman Being Murdered With Hammer
27·4 days agoIronically, it is a video of an immigrant woman being murdered.
According to reports, the victim was from Bangladesh and had been working at a clerk at the convenience store.
But let’s focus on a cherry-pick and strawman instead of the proven pattern of “law enforcement” murdering brown people en masse.

You claimed it was “proven fake” which is false. Even if it is highly suspicious and possibly or likely fake, the statement that you confidently made is still false according to your own sources.
If you had said “While Melania is clearly a pedophile-enabling piece of shit, that image isn’t from the Epstein files and is probably fake” then we would be having a different conversation.

8·5 days agoWoke is a made up term. It has no definition. It has no consistent meaning.
There is a lot of good stuff in your comment, but this opening is extremely problematic. Woke was created in the 1930s with a clear intended definition, which was re-codified in court by DeSantis’ own fascist lawyers.
“The belief there are systemic injustices in America, and the need to address them.”
That is it. Anyone who uses a completely different definition — especially as a pejorative — is simply a racist, bigoted nazi slur. It’s as simple as that.

Those who used woke as a pejorative never did so in good faith, it has always been overt racism.

I support this rule. If I see comics I enjoy I will often go look them up. It’s awful to dive into a new comic and find hateful content that I didn’t expect. Prohibiting comics from known hateful bigots would help avoid that.
