I miss the days of Briggs’ undefeated Server Smash streak. I led a squad in the first three-way smash (not this username) and I still remember what a rush it was. I eventually got to a point where I had reached BR100 (before they increased the cap), the server population was dwindling, and I just wasn’t having fun any more so I drifted away from the game. I don’t regret the time I spent with it.
I have plenty of complaints about Australia (and plenty more about the US). This quote from The Lucky Country (1964) still perfectly sums up so much of the country:

Our government is still too scared to criticise or stand up to Trump, and completely caved in to the zionist lobby after the Bondi shooting attack. I could go on.
That said, I would much rather have our current Labor government in charge at the moment than any realistic alternative, because despite my complaints I do think they’re generally competent and they are generally trying to make things better (I just wish they would be more bold, they have a huge majority for a reason). I certainly wouldn’t want to live anywhere else either.

One Nation is being heavily astroturfed by the media and Gina the Hutt’s bots on social media, so those in right wing echo chambers only hear about how much of a big win for them it was, not the fact that Labor has become the de facto default governing party.
That said, Labor can’t afford to ignore the way the political winds are blowing. They lost a lot more votes than expected in their heartland seats in Adelaide, so a less popular government might be at greater risk.
Australian consumer law specifically protects against this. The consumer has a choice between a repair (if possible), a refund or a replacement; the retailer doesn’t get to choose for them. At today’s prices, replacement is the only sensible choice. The retailer has to take it up with the manufacturer to cover their costs.
ID is not required to vote in Australia, and voting is compulsory (this is a very good thing). Your name and address are listed on the electoral roll, and the polling place staff cross your name off on their sheet (or nowadays on a computer) when you collect your ballot papers. After the votes are counted they compare the rolls and if your name is crossed off multiple times or not at all, you get a “please explain” letter. If you don’t have a good excuse then you get a fine. The fine for not voting is pretty small, it’s more about getting people to vote by triggering loss aversion rather than actual punishment. Actual voting fraud could be more serious depending on the specifics of the case.
