Hey thanks, I had no idea!
Yes…? YouTube wants to get paid. Companies pay YouTube to play ads. You pay YouTube not to play ads. If you do that, then the companies obviously won’t be paying for that. So either you pay or the advertisers pay. Mind blown!

Not sure. For the same reason. If I install Graphene and the play integrity check fails, then I lose access to these services. And I’m a bit of a coward in that regard.
It probably has a user base an order of magnitude larger than Lemmy, so… Barely?

I haven’t tried IKEA, but osram plugs and some Danish brand switches work just fine. New stuff gets plugged directly into home assistant though (via a zonoff ZigBee dongle).

Not sure if it counts, but I took my daughter to see Shen Yun last week. It’s a pretty show and all, but multiple acts had super heavy handed religious elements, which were pretty off putting. One song was about how you should keep to the traditional values and the worst things in the world are atheists and the theory of evolution. Big applause. Can’t really recommend, despite the nice costumes and dances.

I am considering the Jolla phone. It looks like it fits the bill. Personally I have two issues. One is that stuff like banking and Danish id services probably won’t work because they’re bound to Google Play device integrity. The other big one is that my Google Pixel 7 pro still works fine, so there’s no pressing need to upgrade.

Even hue, on their own platform allows third party ZigBee devices without complaints.

Exactly this. Preferably also no phone, but since they are easier to move around it happens…

If you don’t want arrogant developers being involved in your software you might as well move to a cottage in the woods and forsake modern society. Actually, that might be a good idea either way.

That’s awesome!

Didn’t he do that on multiple occasions already?

Ip addresses. Netbird uses the same ip when external, while tailscale has a different internal one. So I need to reconfigure the home assistant client differently for each.

Bloodywood - A Bollywood themed metal band. Great fun!
I tried moving from tailscale to netbird, and while I did get access to my home assistant instance, I got unauthorized errors when trying to load mini graph cards on my dashboard. Instead of tinkering I went back to tailscale - at least for now.
Only Danish expression I know is decades old and probably not adopted by the lesbian community (hardly flattering), but that is “beton lebbe”, where beton means concrete, liking the women to very butch female construction workers, if I’m not mistaken.
