  • Technology makes possibilities and not outcomes. The idea of a bipedal mechanical assistant that can carry , move and lift items for the elderly , on call 24/7 could be another possibility.

It’s likely things would go as you say. Still there is a possibility that some other applications could come out of this kind of bipedal platform as well.

Delivering mail is a complex task for a machine. This is a technology forum so at some point we should be excited that there are possibilities in the future.

The distance these devices could go gives many more possibilities than a similar platform that can move shorter distances.

My first thought for a platform that could move through human spaces at 13 miles an hour was a military robot for urban combat similar to a terminator. So mail delivery robot is the optimistic version of the future.

  • This is due to the demographic crunch. There are just fewer young people to go around.

Less choices from smaller trade focused colleges like the one in the article will focus into larger city focused colleges.

The article is talking about a farming specific school that was small and hands on. Some tasks can be learned in a trade school, but stuff like running a farm will be learned from family, or in places like this.

So you’ll have to be born into it or be wealthy enough to go to a top tier school to run a farm. Now working on the farm would be a trade.

  • I picked up winsor newton acrylic paints from the craft store.

I probably should have watched a YouTube video on painting or something.

The white paint has pretty good coverage. I just need to learn brush control.

The red paint has good coverage as well, but it does need more than one coat and it appears much darker than I expected. The more paint I add the darker it looks. There are two shades of red down and they look identical on the paper.

It looks like for me going over the lines with the paint marker than painting inside that works ok for me.

The yellow is not going to work. It’s transparent and I worry it will be dark ans muddy by the time enough layers are built up. I’ll try painting white under, then yellow over.

  • There were many other formats that came and went between vhs and dvd. There is a lot of media history being conveniently forgotten to make it seem like VHS was the only video format until 1995.

I owned many of them at the time they came out. They all had advantages and drawbacks.

when using the tv’s in most homes at the time, the advantages didn’t matter. You needed to use high resolution composite computer monitors with the video sources and surround sounds equipped receivers to get a significantly different experience. That was such an expensive niche .

The killer thing that vhs had over the numerous formats that came and went was price.

Once dvd got inexpensive enough it took over. That was about a decade after DVD’s introduction.

I agree that dvd will likely outlive the legacy of VHS in pure years.
