Sagat’s first solo record since 2015 now appears on BXL Records. The tracks on this E.P. highlight a tendency is his productions for slightly off-grid grooves that have their own internal propulsion. While they are always present to some degree in his work, here they come to the foreground. They push and pull the listener off centre and create a strange sense of anticipation. Strange because this tension’s promise is never resolved in a straightforward or predictable manner. There is an ever-present hint of “negative space” is his compositions which is equally inviting as it is bamboozling the listener. This is a testament of how people have a need for the un-coded, the unexpected, the un-moored. We do not yet know what a body can do!
