My, oh my what do I see Set out right before me A diamond in the rough Some of us have got it made Martinis in the shade But man, I got it tough La, la la la la la la La la la la la la La la la la la la I had no malicious plans Sticky fingers dirty hands I’ve got to break away I’m copping this I pocket that In a low-brim baseball hat Cause I’ve got to have my way La, la la la la la la Oooh (la la la la la la) La la la la la la I didn’t mean to do it, but I had to do it I didn’t mean to do it, but I mean I had to do it I didn’t mean to do it, but I had to do it I didn’t mean to do it, but I mean I had to do it I didn’t mean to do it, but I had to do it I didn’t mean to do it, but I mean I had to do it I didn’t mean to do it, but I had to do it I didn’t mean to do it, but I mean I had to do it We can take our time I didn’t mean to do it, but I had to do it I didn’t mean to do it, but I mean I had to do it With the wee bit that we find I didn’t mean to do it, but I had to do it I didn’t mean to do it, but I mean I had to do it We can take our time I didn’t mean to do it, but I had to do it I didn’t mean to do it, but I mean I had to do it With the wee bit that we find Buckle up dude, somebody called the cops! Kids! La, la la la la la la La la la la la la La la la la la la La, la la la la la la La la la la la la La la la la la la

Authority issues I wish you would listen to somebody Even yourself every once in a while Take some initiative Wish you’d start walking the walk Baby, how do you talk to your poor inner child? Cut off your hair if it’s too long Write yourself a coming home song Learn from the things that you’ve done wrong Leave a light on for yourself There’s no saints in the stars There are no signs in the ceiling You get a good feeling just go with it I’m tryna help ya, if ya don’t want my perspective then Why don’t you get yourself over it? Cut off your hair if it’s too long Write yourself a coming home song Learn from the things that you’ve done wrong Leave a light on for yourself Doing all right, ain’t a damn crime Feeling at all for the first time Just getting into your prime Leave a light on for yourself I was falling And I picked me up, and I picked me up See I was falling And I picked me up, and I picked me up Cut off your hair if it’s too long Write yourself a coming home song Learn from the things that you’ve done wrong Leave a light on for yourself Pick up your friends without delay And cut yourself down in the same day Won’t you quit getting in your own way? Leave a light on I was falling And I picked me up, and I picked me up See I was falling And I picked me up, and I picked me up

There’s no rulebook No handbook We’re making it up There’s no rulebook There’s no handbook We’re making it up Making it up Making it up Too hot to be cool Too cool to get hot No idea how to do it, do it, do it You make it up on the spot Cause if you don’t really know what’s going on You gotta make it up Try something, do something, anything, make it up We don’t really know what’s going on And then we make it up Try something, do something, anything, make it up There’s no rulebook There’s no handbook We’re making it up As we go along No rulebook No handbook We’re making it up Making it up Making it up No one ever said it would be easy But it doesn’t have to be so hard No one ever said it would be easy But it doesn’t have to be so hard No one ever said it would be easy But it doesn’t have to be so hard Too high to be cool Too cool to get high No idea how to da-da da-da- da-do it I guess you just gotta try Cause if you don’t really know what’s going on You gotta make it up Try something, do something, anything, make it up We don’t really know what’s going on And then we make it up Try something, do something, anything, make it up There’s no rulebook There’s no handbook We’re making it up Mmmm, yeah There’s no rulebook There’s no handbook We’re making it up We're making it up Making it up

I Get It Now 03:32
I never knew what they were talking about Tried so many ways to access it I couldn’t figure it out Sipping your coffee and looking at me I’m unusually quiet so you said what you thinking about? Well I’m thinking I get it now People in movies, when they kiss and start crying Like they ain’t even trying It's something that they've been through And now I hear music, and every time they ask it Girl, do you believe in magic? Absolutely, yes I do I get now, I get it now I get now, I get it now Nobody tells you how it’s going to be The world you’ve been living in you'll start looking at differently So many colors I see in the clouds Then I close my eyes and I go to someplace quieter now And I think you did that somehow I used to keep time on my body Now it don’t even matter There’s just before and after I felt you melt into my skin And when it don’t add up It’s on account of your loving Now that I’m half of something I’m the most whole I’ve ever been It was you It was always you It was always you It was always you It was you I get now, I get it now It was always you I get now, I get it now It was always you I get now, I get it now It was always you People in movies When they kiss and start crying Like they ain’t even trying It’s something that they've been through And now I hear music and every time I they ask it Girl, do you believe in magic? Absolutely, yes I do

Wake each morning Knowing she’s doing just fine Working on her emotions Going to school part time She’s real good with her money Copping that buy one get one free Talking about oooh Looks so good and she’s a mother of three As far as she’s concerned, she made it Wake each morning head to that 9 to 5 Singing all through the lunch break, ooh la la la Oh to be an artist It is to bloom in your own time Talking bout oooh feels so good Stepping into what’s mine As far as he’s concerned he made it Hurt I'm healing Joy I’m feeling Love what I’m pursuing Spiritually tuned in Energy I radiate Learning how to meditate Seizing opportunities Care for my community Falling every now and then Stand up, try again Blooming in my own time Stepping into what’s mine Mmm look so good Mhmmm feels so good Mmmmm it’s all good Go on we made it

about

For as much as Sammy Rae & The Friends may be a band, this collective of dreamers and artists considers themselves a family first. That all-for-one and one-for-all camaraderie ignites their unforgettable and can’t-miss live shows, which serve as a catharsis for both the musicians and their fervent audience. Fronted by singer and songwriter Sammy Rae and honed through years of touring, the group is capable of flourishing in any spotlight thanks to its signature blend of palpable chemistry, deft virtuosity, and vocal fireworks.

Their sound, which has attracted new fans by the thousands in the past few years, is a unique mélange of Sammy’s influences: classic rock, folk and funk and sprinkled with soul and jazz. It’s a concoction that has never been more potent than on the group’s long-awaited debut album, Something for Everybody.
