Scissor and Thread presents Tailored Cuts, Vol. 06. The newest chapter in the ongoing series draws together key moments from recent releases alongside early tracks.
Spanning eleven tracks in its full digital format, the album moves fluidly between deep house, immersive ambience and leftfield club explorations. Soela & Module One’s Drowning appears in an exclusive Dub rework by Matthias Reiling (Session Victim) that delicately reframes the original from Soela’s Dark Portrait album into a spacious, hypnotic meditation. "I have been a fan of both Soela's and Module One's music for quite a while now," says Reiling, "so getting the chance to remix their collaboration from Soela's beautiful Dark Portrait album is a huge honor. I tried to keep the elegant and somewhat tender synth work close to it's original spirit and combine it with simple drumkit samples, acoustic guitar, electric bass and a dash of space echo. The process put me in a slightly eerie, yet romantic mood, which, so I hope, translates a little when listening to the result."
Francis Harris’ Earth Moves feat. Eliana Glass is reimagined by Hidden Spheres into a fluid and luminous remix, while Frank & Tony contribute Drift with DJ Aakmael and the contemplative Absence.
Elsewhere, JVXTA’s Hold On and ZG’s Dog Days bring textured groove and subtle melodic tension while Ali Berger’s 0221 (Serious Mix) and Alex Albrecht’s Aurora unfold with patient, emotive depth. DaRand Land’s Passion Motion from his album Wander Being channels warm, rhythmic drive, "a more upbeat ride, with melodic overtones that drive the “passion”. Personally, it’s my interpretation of some of the sounds from mid-90’s Chicago." as DaRand puts it. Also featured is an early work from Francis Harris under his Gable pseudonym which was originally released on The Lauren Bacall imprint. Black Light Smoke’s Rough Cuts closes the digital collection with shadowy intensity.
Alongside the digital album, Tailored Cuts, Vol. 06 is also presented as a vinyl EP including four tracks that appear in vinyl format for the first time.
