  • Trump is himself a product of the declining material conditions. It’s not like he just appeared out of an alternate dimension. Opportunists like him have always been around, what changed was that people became so disillusioned with the the mainstream that they started paying attention to people like Trump. Things are going to continue on the exact same trajectory after Trump is gone, and the situation is likely going to be a lot worse by then. This whole notion that things will just go back to the way they were is a liberal delusion. Europe no longer has the value it once did for the US, and regardless who is in charge next, their imperative is going to be to continue divesting from and cannibalizing what they can of Europe.

  • It’s absolutely incredible to me that Europeans don’t understand that the whole proxy war on Russia is fundamentally against European interest. What I expect will happen in the end is that once Russia wins in Ukraine, we’ll see individual European countries start quietly making deals with Russia. Hungary and Slovakia are the obvious candidates here, but I can even see France doing it. The whole liberal mainstream is very likely to collapse at that point as well. If the EU tries to prevent countries from doing this, then there’s a really good chance they just exit the EU and flip over to BRICS.
