Following the launch of Pok�mon Ruby & Sapphire, rumblings started to happen about DS games and they were announced in a text listing. From there, nothing was heard about the games for a long time until a "Road to Diamond & Pearl" was announced featuring multiple spin-off games until the release of Diamond & Pearl. The games had a breakthrough change of making it so rather than it being based on types, each move was either physical or special depending on their attributes. It added 107 new Pok�mon, including many evolutions of previous Pok�mon and introduced online play as standard for the games, allowing players all across the world to play with eachother.

In these games, you played as a new trainer in the Sinnoh region as he and his neighbour became Pok�mon trainers. In addition to facing off against the Gym Leaders and Elite Four, you encountered the evil Team Galactic, who enacted plans to create their own world using Dialga & Palkia. |

Release Dates: Japan: September 13th 2008 North America: March 22nd 2009 Europe: May 22nd 2009 Console: Nintendo DS Pok�mon Platinum is the enhanced version of Pok�mon Diamond & Pearl, and fixed up many of the complaints of the game, such as speed. In this game, it added new Pok�mon forms for Rotom, Giratina and Shaymin and had the story focus more on the awakening of Giratina in the mysterious Distortion World. |

Release Dates: Japan: September 12th 2009 North America: March 14th 2010 Europe: March 26th 2010 Console: Nintendo DS Pok�mon HeartGold & SoulSilver were remakes of the original Pok�mon Gold & Silver. These games improved on a lot of features of Gold & Silver, once again having you travel through the Johto and Kanto regions to collect badges and stop Team Rocket. It featured new features including following Pok�mon, new areas including a Safari Zone and the Pok�athlon mini-games. |

Release Dates: Japan: March 25th 2008 North America: June 9th 2008 Europe: July 4th 2008 Console: Nintendo Wii My Pok�mon Ranch followed on from Pok�mon Box in that it was a storage solution. Downloadable from the Nintendo Wii Shop Channel, the game allowed for you to deposit Pok�mon from Pok�mon Diamond & Pearl (and in Japan, Pok�mon Platinum) into a ranch. From there, you can view their interactions with other Pok�mon and see special animations. The trainer there also often offered trades of Pok�mon, including the Mythical Pok�mon Mew & Phione. |

It also had online features and was the first Pok�mon game with random matchups. |

In this game's story, you had to discover the mystery of the Time Gears and work out how they are being used by various antagonists. It featured all 491 Pok�mon available at that time. |

This game built upon Explorers of Time & Explorers of Darkness and added more story including Shaymin. It also had special extra episodes that allowed for discovery of the backstory of various Pok�mon including the Wigglytuff Guild, Team Charm and Grovyle. |

Release Dates: Japan: August 4th 2009 Console: Nintendo Wii The Pok�mon Mystery Dungeon WiiWare games were only released in Japan. Each game featured its own unique dungeons, each with separate Pok�mon to be discovered within. By downloading all three games, all 493 Pok�mon were able to be obtained. Each game had a slight variation on the story of having to help the local Slowking to solve matters going on in the Pok�mon Village. |

In this game, you had to face off against the Pok�mon Pinchers who were trying to capture all the Pok�mon. In addition to the standard Pok�mon Ranger mechanics, it introduced a local multiplayer mode where up to 4 players raced through temples, capturing Pok�mon.. |

Rather than being based on the consecutive circles of a Pok�mon, Pok�mon now had Hit Points diminish, and could be aided by assists. In addition to that, you could have one of 17 Partner Pok�mon, and change them at any one time. The story had you face up against Team Dim Sun as they try to use Darkrai to bring nightmares into the world. |

It could be played as a four player game with all four players controlling different Pok�mon. Only Pok�mon from Generation 1 and Generation 4 were available. |
