SHPE changes lives by empowering the Hispanic community to realize its fullest potential and to impact the world through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) awareness, access, support and development.

Our purpose is to increase the enrollment of Hispanics in the fields of engineering and applied sciences at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. To promote the advancement of Hispanic engineers and scientists in employment and education, develop and participate in industry and academic programs that benefit students seeking technical degrees, improve the retention and ensure successful graduation of students enrolled in engineering or applied science degree programs, and provide an open forum for the exchange of ideas and information pertinent to engineering and applied sciences students enrolled at UNC Charlotte.

Our ultimate vision is a world where Hispanics are highly valued and influential as the leading innovators, scientists, mathematicians and engineers.
