Context: DSA voted against endorsing progressives Chi Osse and others. But caved to centrist Liberal AOC this year, changing their stance from previous years for no apparent reason.

You just love being obnoxiously pessimistic about anything you possibly can, don’t you? Who shit in your purity test this morning?
DSA fully caved to the right.
What makes you say that?
Good oped, but doesnt read that way to me. Its clear she has made some voting mistakes, but the current reality in congress is some level compromise needs to happen to get their support for other votes.
Personally, for me, my standards are simply “does not take aipac money” and “does not have a corporate benefactor”. Until money in politics is dealt with sufficiently, i cant afford perfection. And even when its dealt with, there is noone on earth who will vote the exact same way i would pther than myself.
She didn’t make “voting mistakes”. She made voting choices. She knew exactly what she was doing.
In fact she went from “crying” about not voting on Iron Dome funding, to defending it on Twitter.
AOC is a carreerist snake who defended “Momma Bear” Kamala Harris during her genocide.
National DSA and the NYC DSA chapter are two different bodies. NYCDSA is and always has been in the rightwing of the DSA tent.
If anyone can be part of the DSA what’s the point lmao might as well call yourself the Democrats then and pretend to be running progressives everywhere while ignoring the right wingers.
If you are asking if anyone in DSA can run for a governmental position and say they are endorsed because they are In DSA, no, being in DSA is not an automatic endorsement.
I am confused what you’re asking.
If the DSA thinks NYC DSA is a bunch of cosplaying right wingers then they should kick out NYC DSA instead of pretending to have nothing to do with them.
There are so many levels to this. First, not everyone in NYCDSA is an opportunist, but they are a minority. Second, education is piss poor in the US, critical thinking skills are abysmal, and red-scare tactics are very much so alive here. Many who engage in opportunism do not realize what they are doing so as they are simply uneducated and tailing “what works,” which hasn’t been explained outside of truisms. They fall for ideas of dual-power, reformism and revisionism because of this lack of education and a lack of framing Marxism as a science. However, if they were educated, many would be actual Marxists. DSA does have a framework for enforcing education and other leftist thought, and there have been successful changes to National DSA bylaws (like ones that remove barriers to Democratic Centralism). As with all dialectical processes, it takes time to build, but there will be a quantitative change.
is the dsa any different than the democrats?
Completely my opinion: their member base is 50% more progressive than your average Democrat, and the organization is 25% more progressive on paper but effectively 5% more progressive in reality.
Each percentage is what felt best when I typed it based on being a disillusioned former DSAer. I left because they were too conservative for me.
Comparing progressiveness to Democrats is a bar so low that it’s a tripping hazard in hell.
