AI, for the vast majority of users (and especially in the ways Microslop has pushed it) is completely useless at best and a malicious hindrance at worst. In order for Microslop to even begin to reverse course on their reputation they are going to have to accept the cold hard fact that AI is fetish for shareholders and is not actually what their customers want.
And once they do that then they are basically admitting that AI is overvalued and they overinvested in it and wildly overspent. The fragile house of cards might begin to wobble and the bubble might even pop, so naturally every tech company refuses to acknowledge the pushback against AI outside of rare cases of “We’ll revaluate our approach” like Windows did recently. They’re going to have to sink a lot lower before they’ll even consider budging on major changes to their business strategies.

The US was built on a foundation of genocide and slave ownership. It was never great.

It sadly doesn’t matter. Smith could slaughter a school bus full of infants on live TV and she would still win the next election.
Conservatives, both Canadian and American, operate in a post-truth mindset where facts no longer matter. Their manufactured hatred for “the other side” will drive them to act entirely against their own interests and wellbeing entirely out of fear or just to spite their perceived foes. This is further amplified by the conservative tradition of attacking education and free press so people can’t even learn the truth if they wanted it.
We can see it very clearly with the MAGA cult in the US. They are in so deep that the only way they will ever get their heads out of their ass is to lose everything they’ve ever held dear and even then it might not be enough.

They’re a private company and thus have resisted many of the enshittification trends that run rampant through the industry.
And also their competitors are absolutely atrocious and are completely tone-deaf to what customers actually want.

That has basically been the status quo for the past year. If you want something to succeed you have to keep it on the down-low so Trump doesn’t notice otherwise he’ll rip it to shreds in a tantrum.
The US is being governed by someone who is much alike the insane kings you read about in history books and fantasy novels.

They will when Alberta votes out the UCP.
And when giraffes can fly.

I’m glad there are official studies being done to document this, but also it’s vary obvious if you’ve spent any time around people in the past few years. The degradation of critical thinking and research skills is highly tangible and disturbing. Any country that isn’t addressing this significant intelligence gap is going to have an entire generation (or more) of brain-drained, unskilled citizens that can’t meaningfully contribute to the national workforce. For western countries that have already surrendered most of their manufacturing and innovation overseas, this will be even more devastating.

One thing the Epstein files made very clear is that US lawmakers (particularly the Trump family), Israel, and Russia are all more tightly linked than we previously thought.

I have a trunk bag that has a 2nd zipper like a suitcase so it can expand upward for larger cargo items. Also the sides open and drop down into large pannier bags for bigger items.

Keep it out? Smith herself has been flying down to the US to meet with the Heritage Foundation. The entire thing is backed by US fascists.

Then they just replace the CEO with a new one and the cycle continues once again. CEO’s are more often than not just fallguys that get swapped out when shareholders are displeased.
What this guy did was a direct and tangible hit to the property and finances of the company in a way they will never forget. Entire supply lines will be disrupted and it will take them considerable time to recover. If this type of action was coordinated across multiple locations by their workers it would devastate the company if not destroy it entirely depending on how severe the action was.

We all know he’s insane and is going to attempt to rig future elections. There isn’t anything the world can do about that, though. Trump is America’s problem to solve.

Surprise! The members of a defensive treaty aren’t jumping for joy when one of the members begins an invasion and commits war crimes and then calls for the aid of the other members. Especially when said member previously lied before and got many killed for their false cause.
If the purpose of NATO is lost on Rutte then he should step aside and let in someone who actually knows what the organisation is supposed to do.

Been strongly considering these for my bike.

I’ve been tempted to get one of those handlebar-mounted car horns for use when cars cut me off or nearly run me over.
I have a bell on my bike but I actually don’t use it that much. I don’t often encounter situations where I need to pass a person that is occupying the width of a trail and if I do then usually a “Passing on your left/right!” will suffice.

I have an ebike. My ebike trips are several hours long and cover 20-40km of travel going all over the city and beyond. I have seen incredible sights, been cool places, seen wild animals, had the wind in my hair while I listen to the birds, etc. My health and fitness have both improved noticeably and I feel better and sleep better. My mental health has improved and I feel more alive and creative.
If I didn’t have my bike I’d just walk around my neighbourhood for 20 minutes and get bored then go home and sit around.

Breaking news: Iran’s allies help them against an invading force.
Hello. Am atheist and don’t celebrate Christmas. It’s just another day to me.
I can’t say I’ve ever seen the point of these sorts of devices. They cost an extreme amount of money for a task that can be fulfilled by a quality mirror that is properly positioned. My mirror lets me see basically everything behind my bike and clearly enough that I can even read licence plates.
But I’m also someone that doesn’t use a cycle computer or even put my phone on the handlebars. Part of the joy for cycling, for me, is getting away from our tech-infested world.
