United States | News & Politics@lemmy.ml•AOC still thinks the genocidal ethnostate should be receiving US interceptors which are "used to keep innocent civilians safe" but is rich enough to pay for it
21·18 days agoGreat question. I suspect it won’t be able to fund it’s massive military build up any more, or it’s population will suffer - You know, like Trump just admitted when he said we cannot pay for Childcare because of war. I’d like think the Israeli government was reasonable and started to for peace instead of continuing the invade the region and continue it’s genocide.
However, as I said before, what AOC said does NOT mean she’ll vote to give them money. I expect (hope) like most politicians, she is constantly reforming her position as new information becomes available.
And I’ll also say again: maybe if you said what we were actually for instead of pursuing this naive “gotcha” on AOC.

22·18 days agoNo she isn’t. She’s saying I won’t vote to give Israel any more funds because it has a lot of money. I understand why you believe your version, but I think it’s a false equivalency. Just because you say you won’t do something for reason X, it in no way implies that you will do it if X is removed.
Maybe if you stated your personal opinion on US Taxpayer funding the Israel war machine, it might help.
If not, it sounds like you’re just here to do a demo job on AOC.

83·18 days agoGiven the US Billions given as military subsidies to Israel over the past years, chances are US taxpayers already paid for the Golden Dome.
What she appears to be saying is that Israel is the equivalent a horribly spoiled child, and that no matter how much it kicks and screams, it shouldn’t be given any more toys.

Yeah, that sounds about right - A lot depends on what level you’re at and how “agile” the company you work for is. It’s not wasted per se - Most of the time other engineers build on your work, usually as bugs are found or the feature evolves. But yeah, products (and companies) also will die off.
Code merely solves a given problem at a given time. It’s not meant to last forever. Rejoice in the knowledge and mastery you have gained instead.

And yes, I do have a job. I work for a nonprofit-profit as a Software engineer. But you can guarantee I go “above and beyond”…? You don’t know me at all…

34·3 months agoI love replies from people that seemingly only read the first line… Do you think your idea is so perfect it cannot be debated? Your ad-hominem response suggests so, and that makes you just as much of a snowflake as the rest of the red-hatted MAGA twats that are supporting this kind of shit.
I know you also probably didn’t read this far, but I’ll deal with points you raise anyway.
I don’t know to what “day” you are referring that people held their employers accountable…? Are you suggesting that thousands of Microsoft Engineers, Designers and Admin should leave the company because one of their shareholders is named in the Epstein files? Sure, there have always been those brave enough to stand against the masses and criticize. There always will be, but they are the minority and it’s a lot less common than you think.
And if you think you are one of those, go ahead: Spur on the masses to greater change. But “ditching microsoft products” isn’t going to change anything unless everyone does it and good luck with that.
Major social change is required. If you want to focus your anger on anyone, focus it on the Pedo in Chief.

934·3 months agoI disagree.
Sure, stop buying Microsoft products because they’re shit. But beyond that? If revenues drop, they’ll fire half of the staff before they fire Gates. Besides, if they do fire him, what’s he gonna do? Buy a private island probably. Put another way, this would hurt average, working people far more than Gates.
I guess Microsoft are partly to blame. It’s not a good look is it? But, he’s also not be tried or found guilty so they’re not entirely at fault.
Instead focus your anger: Get out there and ask why he’s not been investigated? Why the people in power are seemingly closing ranks around this - are they all guilty? Vote for a progressive viewpoint that favors holding the ultra-rich accountable in all ways - legally, financially and morally
I get that you’re angry. What these people are accused of doing is truly evil. But take that anger and use it for something with consequence.
