That remains the only movie I’ve snuck liquor into. Zero regrets. The movie is made to be watched while buzzed and as high as one can be while watching a movie.

News@lemmy.world•The US Torpedoed an Unarmed Ship. Who Are the Good Guys Again? | The Walrus
1011·3 days agoI don’t see where it’s clarified that the ship was unarmed or if that would make it somehow not a military target? It’s not a civilian ship, it’s a military vessel.
Call me crazy, but in a race of most-illegal, attacking a legal target in an illegal war seems like a pretty low hanging fruit. A lot of making something out of nothing vibe when there’s plenty of somethings to actually talk about.
Again, assuming I didn’t miss where it’s outlined that this isn’t the case, but a WARship being attacked by another WARship (submarine if there’s a technical difference but that’s not my point) in a WAR just doesn’t seem like an ethical dilemma beyond the shitty reasons for the illegal war in the first place.

4·7 days agoToo many people on Lemmy either aren’t on the trolley (Non-Americans) or they don’t realize they’re on that damn trolley with us. They’re the purity-testers who see their own left-purity as more important than the actual lives that could be not-dead while we try to pull a liberal to the left. Instead we get to collectively flail while fascists bomb Iran.

1·7 days agoWhat’s even the point of asking that?
Answers will be in the 2 camps of “vote anyways” or “you shouldn’t be able to”. Seeing as one of these is a blatant bad answer, anyone you ask with a brain will just say some variant of “you do you”.
So again I ask, why even ask your question?

So from the wiki
The monophyly of Xenacoelomorpha soon became established, but its position as either a basal bilaterian clade or a deuterostome remained unresolved until 2016, when two new studies, with increased gene and taxon sampling, again placed Xenoturbella as the sister group of Acoelomorpha within Xenacoelomorpha, and placed Xenacoelomorpha as sister to Nephrozoa (Protostomia plus Deuterostomia), and therefore the basalmost bilaterian phylum<
Seems like “where on the tree of life” is “the first bilaterals” which makes sense. They seem very worm-like in bodyplan. Shit from the Pre-Cambrian can look pretty alien and have shaky relationships to more derived species.

1·1 month agoAZ vanity plates are, iirc, always raising money for non-profits. They are trying to say that TPUSA is somehow “only an educational non-profit” as part of this. I hate them so much.
Because rage comics are old enough that the people making them were watching Ren and Stimpy as kids, and even the ones that didn’t were watching plenty of the weird af cartoons that took inspiration from them.

123·1 month agoI’m not trying to be demeaning, this isn’t a rhetorical question. Seriously, what sort of logistical miracle would it take for this? America is fucking huge and that would take organization and I have no ideas.
I’m beyond hope for peaceful OR violent change. The only future I’m seeing is collapse and the subsequent corporate cyberpunk nightmare that will devour what remains.
If you read the books, a lot of people thought Sauron wasn’t ever getting the One back because they were convinced it must’ve been swept out to sea.
