  • In my twenties I’d wake up at 4am, hit the gym, work pulling wrenches until around 2-2:30, get home and do chores for an hour or two, eat, go for a run, shower, then watch tv, play video games, or go out with friends. I don’t live a completely sedentary life but I do work at a desk all day. I go for a couple walks every day and complete my chores. It’s not that I’m a constantly exhausted heap as I approach fifty but there’s absolutely no way my energy levels are close to what they were twenty years ago. My joints swell up if I push myself too hard and my muscles take longer to heal/recover. It’s still worth doing the things but I’m going to be watching my step and make sure I have my footing these days when twenty years ago I wouldn’t have cared if I slipped down a few rungs on a ladder if it saved me thirty seconds getting down.

  • I got an HP LaserJet Pro M225dw in 2015 and never had an issue with it. Prints great from windows, Linux, and handheld devices over WiFi. I bought a two pack of aftermarket toner in 2018 and again in 2021 (Arthur Imaging and LxTek brands respectively), otherwise zero maintenance or issues. I only checked on dates because this post made me curious and thought maybe a real world example could be useful to folks that might have printer trouble. If I ever need color, rarely, I just print to cvs online and go pick it up. It only cost $240 when I bought it and the toner was $17 and $28 for the two packs I bought, still have one of the second set left but I will need to put it in soon.

  • I am no more confident about anything in life than I’m not fit, able, or intelligent enough to be in any kind of senior government elected position, at the same time, competency shouldn’t rely on a single individual, it should be a collective effort of many ideas, backgrounds, and expertise that effectively represents all constituents to the best ability possible. I’d never run for anything in politics but that’s the kind of stuff I try to learn about any candidate that I vote for, or not.

  • Acknowledge the war crimes

    Prosecute the war crimes

Pay reparations to the country and its harmed citizens

Acknowledge that as a country there is a lot to change

Pull back authority from the executive branch

    Re-establish USAIDE

Commit resources to help rebuild, understand if it’s declined

    Respect others cultures and autonomy

Campaign for global civil and human rights

I don’t know, I feel like a lot of things could be done to make the country and world a better place. It has to start with a real acknowledgement and acceptance that what happened was fucked up and that there is no way forward trying to cling onto some bullshit victory.

The entire world has things to worry about that is more important than geography and religion. Everyone helping and contributing to a mass global move to renewable green energy should be the top priority for everyone, and helping everyone get there because all of our lives have equal value. It needs to be addressed with the urgency of the depleting ozone layer was; it’s still probably too late anyway but with some common ground maybe everyone could walk away at least agreeing to respect each other.

War is so fucking barbaric, there is nothing civilized about what is going on, this shit isn’t a video game. An actual elementary school full of children was decimated in the first week, with a double tap strike at that, I don’t understand why that wasn’t enough to wake everyone the fuck up and acknowledge that well shit, we actually are the bad guys here, and actually do something about it instead of digging their heals in.

Some pigs you can’t unfuck but that doesn’t make the right answer to keep fucking the pig.

  • I was going to say, the only thing I spend my money on besides necessities like my mortgage, insurance, utilities, food, clothes and fuel is 3d printer filament, small stops to harbor freight a few times a year, and I guess real-debrid. I upgraded mine and my sons computers after Trump got elected then relegated the old hardware to my home lab. I suppose for birthdays and holidays I buy them steam games and Legos but I’m not going to strike to the degree I don’t provide my kids with things I have the means to provide that I wish I would have had growing up. I think school lunches and supplies would round everything out. I donate to creators of things I find valuable but I don’t think that’s the intended target of a strike. I suppose I could go without buying filament and harbor freight but by that metric I’m striking more months than I’m not already. I can’t not buy my kids clothes as they grow or not feed us. I’m nearing fifty and bought a couple pairs of new shoes recently but all my other clothing is a decade or more old. I’ll probably need to buy a bunch of bulk socks and underwear in the next year or two.
