• My NAS/Plex/*arr server is “lil-nas-x”, cause it’s built out of a small form factor NAS
• My personal devices are boringly named “ModelName-ABC”, ABC replaced with my actual initials. Same for my wife’s and kids’ devices.

I haven’t watched Succession, but I suspect Logan Roy is the majority shareholder. If you hold 51% of a company’s voting shares, you effectively can do what the fuck you want with it, board or not. By the time Osborn loses his company, he’s not a majority shareholder anymore, and the rest of the board controls enough of it combined to oust him.

I don’t see any reason to trust American software any more than Chinese software at this point. Especially with how deeply involved Palantir is getting at every level, I just can’t think of any objective reason to think otherwise.

This would suppose people have a “corrupt” nature that they have or don’t have, and have no desire nor ability to change. Doubtful, personally.

They’ve been moving more and more out of AOSP into their Play Services for a good while now. However I suspect OP was referring to their announcement that they’ll require developer verification, and apps to be signed with a certificate they issue, for any app install on a verified device (read any device sold with the Play Store). Long story short, no more building and distributing APKs without Google knowing who you are and that your app exists.

That’s the thing, downloading from another source is not opposed to downloading from the official store. It’s the same thing - downloading an executable and installing it on your device - with a different UX and warning screens.

Am I understanding that Finnish has a way to combine words without being considered to be a compound? My very limited exposure to compound words (through German) was the very idea of mashing the words together made them compound.

Audition, Photoshop and Cubase you’ll probably have the hardest time to truly replace. Even more if you rely on third party plugins for either of those.

Eh I’m not hard set on full spec compliance. I use ZSH, it’s not technically POSIX compliant but close enough that I virtually never have to think about it. Technically correct would probably have been “sh derivative” or something.
