When recipients receive emails from me it includes all kinds of gibberish. I'm sure it serves a purpose or provides security, but how can I get rid of it so that the messages just show who the email is being sent to and who is sending it and the message and any attachments, without all the other material?

Here is an example of what a sent email looks like and sometimes it is even longer?

Would someone please make a tool that will diagnose and fix the continuing problem of local folders showing as empty when the profile mail folder shows many message files inside? I've wasted far too many hours following all the suggestions from Mozilla help and Google searches all to no avail. Also, the Add-On ImportExportTools NG does not help or even seem to be working at all. TB 128.9.1 esr

Suddenly, I am unable to send email out from my gmail account within Thunderbird 128.9.1esr (64-bit)

running on Win 11. When I try to send I get "Login to server smtp.gmail.com with username [email protected] failed." While there is link to Reset Password it does not work, I just get a repeat of the error message. I removed this gmail account from Thunderbird and re-added it entering the proper password for the gmail account. Received all the email stored on the web from that gmail account plus new email but still cannot send out. Server setting imap.gmail.com. Port 993; Connection security SSL/TLS; Authentication OAuth2. What gives?

I get occasionally get ics files with content similar to this:

DTSTAMP:20250416T153158Z DTSTART:20250512T163000 DTEND:20250512T173000 SUMMARY:Appointment. DESCRIPTION:Date:\n2025-05-12\n\nTime:\n04:30 PM\n

Note that the DTSTAMP property has the "Z" designator and is the correct UTC for when the ics file was created. However, the DTSTART and DTEND properties do not have "Z" and therefore should be interpreted as local time. Thunderbird appears to interpret them as UTC and convert them to the wrong local time in the calendar event.

My messages older than a months get deleted from the server folders - I can't find them. I have checked the "do not delete any messages" box long time ago, it did not help. I checked the mail server via a web interface, messages can be found there, but I don't see them in Thunderbolt. No matter what happens on the mail server, I want to have them store locally, si o si. Why tf this is not happening? Also, why is there a local Sent folder, but no local Incoming one???

Windows 11 Thunderbird 137.0.1

ARRRGGGH! I've been using Thunderbird for over 20 years and it's doing something new and BAD:

Every time I open it since yesterday, it keeps adding additional inboxes (7), drafts boxes (3), sent boxes (2) and junk boxes (6) and trash boxes (2). I don't know how to get rid of all of the extra folders. My profile is backed up, I just tried deleting the program and installing the latest version and it opened the profile (I thought it'd open a default profile and then I could reinstall the "real" profile). What's happening and how can I fix it? No, this does not have anything to do with multiple email accounts and I haven't added any new ones. Please help!

When composing a message, as soon as I hit the space bar a blue border appears around the message pane and instead of inserting a space the cursor jumps to the end of the message. When I try to go back to insert the space where I want it the curser jumps to the end again. So basically I can't insert any spaces in the message. This has only just started happening, been using TBird without any problems for a long time. Any advice would be much appreciated Thanks

Hi,

I have what appears to be a common issue, but the common solutions I found don't seem to help.

I migrated to a new Mac[1], and my Thunderbird[2] on Mac times out while sending messages through the SMTP outlook server. So I am unable to send emails from account. By migrating, I mean I copied over my entire ~/Library/Thunderbird and used that. It actually did work for a few days. But then it started failing.

There are some common suggestions on the internet for how to fix this, and I have tried them all:

  • make sure correct settings are used. I am using Outgoing SMTP Server: smtp.office365.com, port: 587, security: STARTTLS, authentication: OAuth2.
  • make sure Firewall is disabled
  • restart Thunderbird
  • restart Mac
  • delete Thunderbird folder in Library, and just start over with a new profile.
  • change Thunderbird time out setting
  • check that I can send email from Mac Mail - yes, this works. It must a difference between Thunderbird and Mac Mail that causes the issue.

The error I get, after about 15 seconds is: "Send Message Error. Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to the Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.office365.com timed out. Try again."

I have no problem receiving email, but am unable to send.

I tried gomtp to look at what was happening, but I wasn't sure how to configure the ssl, tls, auth settings and how to specify where to find the password.
