as a person who happily rides their bike everywhere, and who hunts once or twice a year for meat, who fishes, and grows their own vegetables, bakes their own bread. i seem to be dodging most of this oil shortage inflation and price gouging.

now, if EVERYONE started doing the same, and sharing with each other what they have, and trading for what they dont have.

well, dang wouldnt that be just absolutely INSANE to think about? we wouldnt have to rely on a centralized logistics chain that drains us of all our wealth, with prices that dont reflect true value of the labours that brought them to us in the first place?

wouldnt it be fucking NUTS if we all just decided to pool our labour and resources together and build a system for ourselves where our labours are rewarded equal to their measure for all involved?

fuck that would be mind boggling, the devil probably fuels my whimsy on the matter. i shall self flagellate for such a SINFUL idea.

whenever the US finally burns down and is replaced by something hopefully more enlightened, i believe generally that critical thinking skills should be taught and graded every year from kindergarten through university. a mandatory course that is graded on the “two truths and a lie” concept. beginning of the year you state two truths, and one lie. throughout the year or semester you have students discuss it, go over it together. all the while teaching them smaller units on conspiracy theories, science, medicine, biology, economics, politics, human psychology, history, etc. then a large section on logic and class conciousness. and finally, at the end of the year they prepare a group report on the two truths and a lie concept. honestly the two truths and a lie can all be completely fabricated, in fact there could be 3 truths, or 3 lies. or 2 lies and 1 truth. the whole point is that through the years they have to develop an understanding of authority and how it thinks vs how they think. and how to compile real verified evidence to back their claims. even if they chose the right “truth” they have to back up their claims with verified evidence and there can be no emotional or vibe based answers. automatic failure. then, they also have a secondary aspect to this, when they check their sources they also have to dig into who funds them, their history, affiliations, are they internationally recognised, are their studies verified by third parties. etc. each piece of supporting evidence is an extra point to their arguments.

the whole idea is not necessarily to teach them one all encompassing truth, but how to view every situation critically and give them the muscle memory to search for truth without falling victim to grifters and propagandists against their better interests and verify information themselves so they dont just fall victim to isntagram reels, tik tok, and youtube shorts for their information and political ideology.

another layer to this would be to teach them how to use different search engines, VPNs, etc. so they arent getting as many filtered results from people who fund and support fascism.

for me i live out of spite, i have enemies that must die before i go into that good night.

radicals are at the forefront of change in every conflict. for better, or for worse.

today (in the US) to be opposed to fascism, is to be considered a “far left terrorist” or ANTIFA. another boogeyman made by the fascists to scare people away from “socialism” or the “wokes” or some other nonsense.

the new modern definition of “far left extremism” is a dog whistle used by fascists trying to play the “both sides bad” or “innocent centrist” take that ultimately leads left leaning people and fence sitters further down the road of fascism, for those who take it at face value. overuse of the word “tankie” as well, which has been used as a blanket term for socialists/communists a lot more in recent days. but most people dont understand its roots, or the roots of socialism/communism, and how they have changed since their inception.

unfortunately, the reason so many “far left” voices appear here, is because platforms like reddit started banning people because they called out fascism, and began communicating on how they should stop it. or simply joking about it. i personally am one of those people, i said elon musk did a nazi salute, and was likely a nazi to some degree. and i was perma banned within minutes. for “violent” content. (it wasnt in the slightest) so here i am. and honestly its quite nice, people are more level headed, kind, and willing to discuss things thoughtfully. without the “gotchyas” and hostile armchair intellectualism that is so rampant on platforms like reddit.

this is a platform of the people, each instance essentially ran/hosted by volunteers. working class people, like you or me. thats the basis of the fediverse. anyone can spin up an instance, some bigger/better than others, and choose to link with all/certain instances. some instances can be honey pots, filled with bots, AI slop. or real human beings, making real connections. who knows. its crazy out here. still small, quiet. but growing, and getting louder.

the best thing about the fediverse, is that if you dont like an instance. you can leave it.

but if you dont leave quietly, its always a little bit sus as to your real motivations.

OP seems to be confusing people with a distaste for fascism/general knowledge of communism/socialism, and the history that birthed them, for actual “tankies”

a common mistake made by the misinformed, and a common tactic used by the misaligned.

but id rather not make those assumptions, and assume its coming from a purely anecdotal view/experience of the world that i havent seen reflected in my own use of lemmy.

regardless, at the end of the day, its not left vs right, its up vs down. and i think thats the bigger zeitgeist here on lemmy
