I’m a pilot. I talk to atc all the time. You don’t want a call of duty oficianados and sweaty gamers. You want the kid that plays factoro who also micros farming sims on the side for fun. We have full functioning discords for flying sims already. Those guys are already working for atc. I want that rainman autistic with the verbal skills of an FM radio jockey. Its not an easy job, but fortnight ain’t the answer I can promise you that.
Live nation entertainment is the company formed after Ticketmaster merged with live nation. Concert promotion and ticket sales. So they have a long rap sheet of alleged but obvious price fixing and anti competitive lawsuits and allegations.
As for not knowing who kanye west is… Let’s just say he is a mentally unstable black hiphop artist and self confessed nazi, as per his last unmedicated manic episode and subsequent album. And media interviews. And vocal trump support. Its a roller coaster of a ride. Also he married Kim Kardashian and that’s not even the top ten of questionable decisions he’s made in the past decade.
Yeah. That’s unfortunate. An absolute travesty. But we’ve found a way to fix what we have fucked up. And that’s good. Don’t minimalize it.
We’ve broken the system. That sucks. But we’ve found a way to fix it for now. Not as good, but we are trying to do something.
Give some credit to the folks that are trying to fix our fuck ups. God damn it some people have realized what a mess we’ve made and are trying to do something to fix it. Small wins may just save our asses if we let them stack up enough.

Then we called it downloading an app. Things changed. Now if it’s not approved it’s called side loading? Blow it out your ass.

I think it’s the overall consensus that no normal person wants the data centers in the first place, and we want any justification possible to stop them. It’s not the actua reality that’s the issue. Cool water goes through pipes. Warmer water goes out back into the river. Sure. There’s a whole list of potential issues depending on the execution, but they can be properly and legally mitigated. It’s public sentiment that is the real issue. And I agree with that sentiment.

If I recall correctly, you can, but it removes your node from the public networks everyone else is using because hams cannot use encryption for coms as part of the rules for ham operation, as the non ham network is encrypted by default. You would have to build a secondary network independent of the public node list.

Oh it’s a hundred percent just the novelty communication technology that is in vogue right now. I don’t really know if it’s a true zeitgeist technology or if someone with a lot of product to sell who is playing with the social media algorithm. But I guess I don’t really care much.
The trick is to find a way to seize on that opportunity. Now that our mesh network is structurally sound and sufficient, I’m working on using a raspberry pi to automate our ham club meeting dates, testing dates, and field days, and then blast those messages once a week or so over the mesh network. That way, an impulse buy turns into the discovery of a fuctional network and afterwards, a random person can discover a whole local community of people with all sorts of new things to learn.

first you need a trough. That’s the mesh network. After, the horse needs to be thirsty. That’s the curiosity people have. information, the when and how and where, you can automate and passively tell them about. that’s the water.
I’ve come to the realization that mesh nodes are little more than a gateway drug into the world of ham radio. And for that I’m grateful.
It’s not as good, and does everything worse than radio. The only real world use I have found is for when cellphone networks get overwhelmed at things like music festivals and large sports games. No one else’s texts go through, but I can toss by buds a node to put in their back pocket and we can stay in touch.
our local mature club is building our local mesh network out now as an introduction to the ham world. And it’s working. It’s getting the younger kids and adults through the door. And from there, it’s an easy thing to get them interested in more useful and fun forms of communication.
