Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•I've never met a loud and outspoken atheist that didn't celebrate Christmas.
29·11 days agoI celebrate Christmas in the sense that I get together with family for a good meal and exchange some gifts, but none of us spare a thought to baby jeebuz or any of that jazz.
Also, I’m Norwegian and I seem to recall that jule celebrations were a thing before christianity forced Thor & Co. to step aside.

Hardware@lemmy.world•Sofa PC gamers rejoice! A gaming-friendly TV with DisplayPort is coming this year — and it uses high-end screen tech you won’t find in any monitorsEnglish
2·11 days agoI share that dream. These days however I do use my TVs ability to run jellyfin/plex, but only after uninstalling/disabling as much as possible and making sure my firewall/DNS only allows traffic I’m happy with.
I don’t know man, nothing real can be that cute, right?
What a good boy!

What if the person telling them is busy doing something else?!
You’re lucky, then, I think. My nephew’s 3 never got right. After a year of ownership they finally agreed to take it back, mostly to avoid a lawsuit, I think.
The fit and finish was also pretty atrocious, but I reckon most people don’t really notice.
Ugh, they’re so flamboyant…

We’re close on this one but there’s a couple of holdouts.

Norwegian, Swedish, German, English, some French and maybe enough Spanish to survive a week or two.
Same, and I hope I never get to that point :)
I detect some tension within this family - mom is just fed up and exhausted, while dad is furious he can’t even get a minute’s worth of silence coming home from work.

So what do American fathers do on mandatory parental leave, just sit at home?
Oh, wait, there is no mandatory parental leave for fathers in the US, is there?
