The thing I’m concerned about is not the absolute number when news like this are published, but the magnitude of the error. Not in a “haha, they’re so wrong, lol” way, but in a “if they get it this wrong over x years, I wonder what the error will be in 2x years”.

Being off by 60% is massive and then new estimate will have some margin of error as well. Which could go back to the original value, but it could also be worse. We just don’t know.

Beim Alpenmolch lernst du eigentlich, wie du ein komplexes System beobachtest und verstehst, warum bestimmte Bedingungen (wie die Umwelt) zu einem ganz bestimmten Verhalten führen. Du trainierst also dein Verständnis für Ursache und Wirkung.
Es ist eine unglaubliche Arroganz der “Bildungsverantwortlichen” das sie wirklich ernsthaft glauben das NUR und ERST ihr Unterricht dieses Verständnis von Ursache, Wirkung oder “logischem Denken” fördern können.

Yes money can solve it. It can solve FOSS devs needing a day job, it can solve not having enough people to do deal with FOSS related nonsense.
I’m really annoyed when people say that and somehow have “shame” when it comes to demanding, let’s say, $50 million from FANG to maintain their project. Just ask. And then because of that shame, they think “asking for money” is asking a few fellow FOSS enjoyers for $1-5 a month and then that amounts to like $3.50 and then yeah of course that won’t solve any problems.
Since it wasn’t mentioned before, I’ll write a bit about credit, debt and inflation.
Is that why Euro was created?
Soooo, you may have heard that in the really olden days, currency was backed by valuable metals. Up to the end of Brendan Woods, you could take a US dollar and go to some exchange place and demand and receive a US dollar’s worth of gold.
That was a problem.
If anyone, even nations, needed a bunch of money very quickly, they couldn’t get it easily, because they would need to either give something of equal value, or take on credit, which people wouldn’t give them, because they were already in a financially bad place.
So that “backing” (with gold) was removed. Currency now solely rests on a general “trust” in the country and the economy. And so when things got tight in the Weimarer republic, they just printed money and that’s how we got the word “hyperinflation” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperinflation_in_the_Weimar_Republic . The situation was solved by resetting the currency. Besides the trouble of the actual printing, it’s a huge mess because everything has to be reevaluated, prices are weird and wonky, making people less interested to trade (and pay people in the country for their goods and services).
Buuuuuut, if it’s done carefully, a little bit of inflation can actually be good for a domestic economy: Since old debt is just a number, if the value of the currency gets lessened, that old debt is easier to pay back. Improved exchange rates make goods and services from that country cheaper and more competitive and ideally that can promote international trade.
The Euro removes both.
It does that by sort of, kind of coupling economies and using trust in some parts of the European economy to serve as back for the rest that is struggling.
Which means when greece had a debt crisis (in 2010 or so), they couldn’t just debase their currency and call it done, it was a huge international problem.
It’s the reason why countries that are rather on the “let’s take on more debt, lol” side of economic planning, often back plans for “euro bonds” that create shared responsibility between european nations for the debt any nation takes on.
In practice, the biggest reason is probably still that trading and managing international companies become a lot easier if things don’t have to be converted all the time.

Uns fehlt insgesamt der richtige Hebel. Einerseits gibt es keine Strafen für Politiker die wirklich schwerwiegende Rechteverletzungen vorschlagen. Dann ist es so das die entsprechende Lobby einfach so ein neues Buzzword erfinden kann und dann gibt es die gleiche “Debatte” nochmal von vorne. Es ist DDOS für den demokratischen Prozess. Solange das nicht als solches erkannt und dagegen vorgegangen wird, wird es weiter passieren. Aber dahin zu kommen das es so anerkannt und dann verboten wird, steht so wie ich das sehe in keiner Weise in irgendeinem Parteiprogramm.
Die ganze Debatte ist allerdings auch noch ideologisch verseucht, weil man kann Sicherheit auf zwei Arten herstellen:
Die ganze Politik ist darauf ausgelegt das Warentransport und Reisen schnell, einfach und ohne Kontrollen stattfindet. Bis auf die am Flughafen höhö. …und das wir ein Land sind das Migration, besonders Imigration sehr positiv gegenüber aufgestellt ist. Wir sind ingesamt offiziell auch darauf aus, das alle Menschen so gleich wie möglich zu behandeln sind und wir unterschiedliche Klassen strikt ablehnen. Auch wenn es die natürlich faktisch trotzdem gibt, mit Sonderrechten durch Ausbildung, Beruf, politische Position oder andere Aspekte, wie das mit den Frauen, der Gleichberechtigung und der Wehrpflicht.
Jedenfalls, wir sind eigentlich alle gleich und bis auf wirklich schwere Verbrechen und Sicherheitsverwahrung, verliert niemand permanent Rechte.
Damit sage ich nicht das eine isolationischte Gesellschaft strikt “besser” wäre, aber es gehört auf jeden Fall zur Diskussion dazu das Überwachung “alternativlos” ist, weil man ja das andere Modell schon abgelehnt hat.
Das Problem ist für mich, das wenn die Überwachung und das allgemeine Misstrauen gegenüber Menschen so stark zunimmt das die Unschuldsvermutung eher ein schlecht Witz ist, sieht der andere Ansatz auf einmal recht verlockend aus, einfach weil die Überwachung nervt.
Einfaches Beispiel: Ich hätte weniger gegen eine einmalige tiefergehende Sicherheitsüberprüfung die mich längerfristig als “vertrauenswürdig” einstuft, wenn man sich den Ärger z.b. am Flughafen sparen könnte.
Achso und es gibt natürlich auch noch die dritte Möglichkeit, alle sehen auf einmal ein das Fehlverhalten schlecht ist, hören auf damit und dann gibt es Frieden auf Erden und Kuchen für alle.
In dieser Reihenfolge: genau, nein, gar nicht und zu den Autos und Waschmaschinen: naja, das es faktisch nicht funktioniert sehen wir beide. Trotzdem war das deren Geschäftsstrategie.
Ne, es ging eher um first to market und Kontrolle über die Technik mit ein bisschen Vorsprung. Die geplatzte Disney Partnerschaft wäre das Ding gewesen:
Wenn die es geschafft hätten Filme (oder Serien) in Disney Qualität zu produzieren, für günstiger als es Disney kann und sehr viel schneller, wäre das ein gutes Geschäft für z.b. Disney+ gewesen, hat aber offensichtlich nicht funktioniert.
An der Technik an sich gibt es kein Alleinstellungsmerkmal. Aber das gibt es ja bei “Autos” und “Waschmaschinen” eigentlich auch nicht. Also nicht wirklich, solange man für einen akzeptablen Preis von A nach B kommt oder die Wäsche ungefähr gewaschen wird, geht das. Trotzdem gibt es in den Bereichen keine Startups die VW oder Bosch Konkurrenz machen. Gleiches Prinzip.

Ja, aber das ist halt das Risiko der Blase bzw. warum die Angst haben.
Gute Frage ob das legal war.
Ich glaube es war vorher kein Problem (außer beim dotcom crash), weil keiner einschätzen kann was die Technik tatsächlich kann. Was das ganze aber auf jeden Fall schwieriger macht, ist das die USA sehr tolerant gegenüber Monopolen ist und es deswegen eine “Winner takes all” situation ist.
Ansonsten weiß ich nicht genug über das Thema, ich guck mir nur manchmal die Aktienkurse an.

Und das Problem damit ist auch das die leider exponentiell ist und das ist bei Schulden ganz schlecht. Linear und dann umschulden? Immernoch schwierig, aber in manchen Köpfen theoretisch lösbar. Exponentiell? Aber nicht bei exponentieller Verschuldung.
