  • to be fair it was a console seller and A LOT of people bought the Wii just to play that at family gatherings and like inviting people over for dinner. My parents bought a Wii just for it and never bought another game for the Wii.

I was working at an EB Games when the Wii came out and a good chunk of people would just buy the console with no games attached to it. They just wanted Wii Sports. AND THEN when they brought out the new version of Wii Sports…man that thing sold like hot cakes.

  • My parents live in the US, I’m in Canada. they’re dual Canadian-US Citizens but were both born in England and still have British accents, I’m a dual British-Canadian citizen. They moved a lot due to my dad’s work and eventually decided, for whatever reason, to settle in the US. They’re elderly and I’m afraid to travel there and I don’t want them travelling here to potentially/likely be hassled on their return. This sucks. I’m terrified that I’ll never see them in person again. I’m terrified that they’ll be grocery shopping one day and because of their accents they’ll get reported or come across some nazi ice agent and get detained.

So even though I’m Canadian I feel invested in all this crap in the US purely because of my parents. I wish, daily, deep down wish daily that the US People FINALLY do something to take their country back. I wish I could ask some random American to please look out for my parents and keep them safe. It haunts me. It’s almost like I’m waiting for some call from someone saying my parents are in some holding facility. But from all the stories I’ve read I’d likely never get that call so now I’m just calling my mom daily only to make sure she can still pick up the phone.

  • Sorry we don’t review AI Slop.

then closes the ticket. classic. I’m a fan of Flathub more so than ever.

Oh surprise surprise the guy is from Mississauga and has his fingers in everything that is totally unrelated to each other in order to some how, some way, make a buck. Doesn’t surprise me. seems like every “tech person” from Mississauga is also a consultant for some medical crap and yup…that’s what it says on his site.

  • I normally use NixOS but recently tried out PikaOS on one of my machines and I love it. Sure it’s got a gaming focus but it’s fast. damn fast. makes my dev work a breeze. It feels like one of the most complete Linux distros I’ve ever used. takes all of 15min to install and you can be up and running with everything you need within 30min. And their Pikman package manager is one of the best I’ve ever used. has distrobox built into it so if I want to install something from Arch, or the AUR, or Fedora, or whatever I just do “pikman --aur install whatever” spins up a distrobox, automatically exports it, good to go. Also has one of the fastest startups I’ve ever experienced that it felt like I wasn’t on systemd. Like Void runit start up speed.

If there are people who want something like Bazzite or Nobara but want a lot more flexibility for packages than PikaOS is it.
