Not even that, just go the fuck home

There is a price for everything

Time to raise taxes, take away more parental benefits, and force people to work more hours. Anything to avoid touching the thousands of billions of generational wealth the elite is sitting on in e.g. real estate. Keep up the good work, 3rd biggest economy of the world, you can make it to 10th in a few decades.

Love it. Who knew that the Estonian language is so kino

Exactly. A lot of people thought Orban cannot be defeated in elections after ruling Hungary for 16 years straight, yet he just conceded. He had everything on his side: billions spent on state propaganda, intelligence services spying on opposition, Russian misinformation campaigns, gerrymandered districts, etc. But when 4 out of 5 people cast their votes, with a large part of them being against you, he probably thought he would rather give up peacefully than face the wrath of the nation.
Democracy works if we make it work. Voting is a big part ot it, but as you say, a lot of other things can be done in parallel.

It absolutely did. We sent fascist Orban packing after his 16 yrs long rule in Hungary. 79.5% voter turnout. I bet if the US had similar levels of participation, the orange clown would not be the current president.

He said “Abszolút filmszínház” which means “Absolute movie theater”, a deliberate mistranslation of the original meme, which is how it’s used in Hungarian, adding another layer to the joke. Intentional mistranslation of memes is also a thing in other countries like Germany and Turkey.
Something that foreigners also find funny: “Magyar” literally means Hungarian, so yes, the country will have a PM called Peter Hungarian.

Finally a sane approach to online age verification

Peter Magyar promised to change the constitution and introduce an 8-year limit for the Prime Minister, thus making it impossible for Orban to make a Trumpish comeback. And I don’t see anybody within Fidesz that matches the voter pull of Orban.
Also, this was a true landslide - winning 2/3rds majority at 79.5% voter turnout, so the new government will be able to remove Orban’s puppets (e.g. SC, AG) and make the constitutional changes needed to strengthen democracy for the future.
Overall I’m quite optimistic for my country, even if conservative-centrist Magyar doesn’t match my views as a leftist, as he is definitely a democrat who wants to help his country.
Holy fuck, what a nuclear and spot-on quote. I’m definitely saving this one for later

Yes. Few seats are close, but votes from abroad are counted when they arrive later, and those usually are not fans of Orban

Tbf this was a jawdropping surprise for us, but happy to take the win

Thanks for the assist!

Thank you! Absolutely incredible, 79.5% voter turnout - people really had enough of Orban
