Which is wild, you’ve been incredibly adept at coming up with things to argue against this whole thread
Ah so now you’re just saying things, cool
Serious question - is the DNC paying you to say all this? Is the DNC in the room with you right now?

Technology@lemmy.world•Federal Bill Would Bring OS-Level Age Verification to the Entire U.S.English
4·18 hours agoThe death threats were shitty, I agree. But they were at least partially fueled by the fact that we have lawmakers trying to make it illegal to use an operating system that doesn’t ask for your age. If that systemd change was introduced in a different time, I doubt people would have even noticed or cared.
Not trying to excuse the death threats, because again, that’s shitty, there’s no reason to do that. I think it’s important to understand the context and nuance around all that though.

81·1 day agoSure, make it an optional field that you can fill in with whatever. Don’t make laws requiring it though.
If they walked the walk, they’d have an easier time getting elected and staying elected. If they walked the walk, they wouldn’t have let Republicans walk all over them for the past few decades. If they walked the walk, they wouldn’t have allowed the country to inch frighteningly close to fascism.
I’m all for voting for progressives. We need progressives. We need progressives that will actually do progressive things. Sitting here and acting like the current status-quo-loving DNC is actually super progressive because of some bullet points on their website is not going to get us there though.
They may talk the talk, but they don’t walk the walk.
- Several Democrats side with Republicans on their plan to end the 2025 government shutdown after being cornered on SNAP and ACA funding
- List of Republican and Democrat politicians that accepted AIPAC money
There’s tons of instances of Democrats voting for tax cuts for the rich/against tax cuts for everyone else at the state and local levels, so I’m not sure what links you want there
So if you’ve looked at that record, you’d see where Democrats have recently voted against taxing the rich, against food assistance, and against keeping dark money out of politics, and you’d see the absurdity of a sweeping claim like “that’s how they’ve always voted”.
Also you realize there are more Democratic politicians than the ones who serve in Congress, right?
What do you mean that’s how they’ve always voted?
Those are progressive ideals, not neo-liberal ones, and neo-liberals are currently the ones controlling the Democratic party unfortunately.
That’s not to say that neo-liberals and conservatives/the MAGA party are the same, or that the Democratic party and the Republican party are the same, but it’s important to recognize that neo-liberals explicitly do not want to tax the rich, remove money from politics, or give everyone food.
Start with just sharing your feelings with the bros and go from there

4·5 days agoA game can be either great or awful, with no more room for meh games.
I think it’s more just that expectations are much higher for a AAA studio like Bethesda. They built so much hype and asked for nearly $100 at launch for a game that didn’t live up. There’s plenty of meh games out there, they’re just priced accordingly. There’s also a ton of really great games out there priced way lower than what AAA studios are asking. I think it’s very fair to hold those studios to a standard that reflects the prices they’re charging.
