“the Earth isn’t real!”

Are you asking people to… What, exactly?
…
I guess I’m dumb and inquiring then
Some people know exactly how they want to go

No
If anything I compare my car’s condition to theirs.

Ok sure, can you at least tell me what it’s about? Is it referencing a movie? Tv show? American politicians? Who are these people dancing?
The quality of the fitted sheet and the bulk of the mattress make a difference. No, don’t tell me they are standardized to precision because they aren’t. I’ve made beds at strangers houses many times and it’s as different as it gets. Those few millimetres difference mean you can or cannot pull the sheet correctly over the last corner. Some beds take me 5 minutes to make, on the other hand difficult beds can take me over half an hour to make (all linen and covers etc).
The hardness of the mattress also plays a role here, softer mattresses are easier. Smaller mattresses are easier to lift and manipulate, too. Cheap linen and/or cotton linen regularly washed with hot water shrinks, making the fit more difficult. Also the closer to a square your mattress gets in length x width the easier it gets to accidentally pick the wrong corner on the fitted sheet. Finally, physical strength makes a difference, the stronger you are the easier it is to pull the fitted sheet if it’s tight.
So basically you could say if you are an average man of average man strength fitting an average-to-good quality fitted sheet on a single mattress, you will never experience any issues with this task.
Now if you are an average woman of average woman’s strength fitting a low-quality fitted sheet on a king sized mattress you will struggle. You will break a sweat. Guaranteed.
Omg comparing yourself to Socrates is just hilarious

I don’t get whatever the slop is trying to reference here, other than the religious part.

Depends. Many times, yes it is rude. To figure it out I take into account relevance and understandable curiosity. Is it relevant to the situation? What’s their demeanor towards me? But it’s hard to tell, really. Some people wear a mask better than others. And it can get annoying when you hear it several times a day.

Not sure I agree with your appreciation of the elevator. I don’t know where you are (I’ve never heard “ope” either) but at least in Australia not everyone faces the door in an elevator. I’ll copy my own comment left below to someone else:
…you are in an elevator for a very short time, unlike with public transport for example. You might as well be facing the direction you need to go to, so that when the doors open, you go, instead of having to turn and then go.
Second… I regularly take crowded elevators and while it’s true that almost nobody stands facing back to the door, it’s also true that easily half the people choose to stand sideways, facing the side walls. (Which btw makes someone with a pram or wheelchair easier to get into the elevator). It’s a mix of being ready to go and being able to rest your back against the walls of the elevator more than an unspoken social convention.

Disagree. First of all, you are in an elevator for a very short time, unlike with public transport for example.
Edit: hey well, at least in Australia. Maybe wherever you live everyone faces the door in an elevator.

I get it now, thanks

That explains why, that’s the reason I was looking for initially. This makes sense and completes the picture, thank you

It’s been like this for years now, I’m ashamed

Okay, this does give me a satisfactory answer however it raises other questions, perhaps for another occasion. My take from you is that this is relatively normal and that the media is fussing too much over this. Fair, it’s not nice but at least I’m not puzzled, thanks for the answer

Try one of the questions communities. This isn’t a showerthought

Thanks for replying but this doesn’t give me a satisfactory answer. I understand that during war you as a civilian may not always be able to deliver items to troops, and that the post may not always be able to reach places.
However the country should try to feed those troops and keep them alive, otherwise what’s the point? Why would you kill your own troops?
If it is well known that you have this group of people starving, why isn’t the government doing anything about it? Why aren’t they even bothering to reach them? Forget the post, the “best army in the world” can’t spare a single vehicle with supplies to reach starving troops? It’s not a situation of nationwide famine or poverty. They have resources. I just don’t understand why this is being allowed to happen. There isn’t a reason stated anywhere for the post to stop working, or for the army to not do anything. Who benefits from this? The whole situation appears to be easily preventable and solvable yet nobody in a position of power is doing anything? Why?
TLDR basically I don’t understand why it’s not a scandal and why anyone is trying to fix it. You said the army is feeding the troops but poorly and this leaves me just as puzzled.

I’m confused and not American. I read the article. Why are they not sending food to their own troops? Where’s the logic in that? Is there a foreign force intercepting the “airspace” ? Why would “civil authorities” order this space to be shut down? Fuel shortages? I feel like there has to be a very obvious reason and it’s flying over me completely
I enjoy the process naturally, but it’s not joy as in watching a movie or eating some dessert or sex.
It’s enjoyment comparable to playing a game, but not quite either. It’s challenging, you need to sharpen your skills, you can fuck up at any moment, you can fuck up and not even notice. You will, in fact. And that’s just the hands on part, I’m not talking about the ideas or even the sharing and communicating. Which is also tied to it.
For me the most challenging part is overcoming inertia to get started. Finding that motivation when you are depressed is very hard. Once I do the rest unfolds on its own. Problem with motivation is that it’s different for everyone and very elusive. For me, I need to either get paid, or have a practical reason to do the art (ie. Someone needs it for a specific reason or cause), or have an audience that engages with what I do. Feedback, back and forth. Healthy competition. Those things used to exist for me online a decade ago, but has been eroding ever since AI boomed, also platforms have been getting worse and worse, designed to curate a feed for you with little to no focus on the comments or community behind the work. Basically I thrive and find motivation in places where I can engage with my audience more personally and become others’ audience in that way, where discovery is up to me and not an algorithm that automatically ranks things for you, where I can see people’s reactions to my work as opposed to a number of views or likes.
I’ve been trying to find an online group of people to keep motivation up, something with tasks you are held accountable to similar to a class but with no accreditations or curriculum. So far I haven’t been lucky. Things seem to be either courses or prompts given out at large on popular media platforms. Neither works for me. One lacks the peers or is too expensive, the other lacks the interpersonal aspect.
Anyway, end of rant, but imo your motivation for visual art shouldn’t be too different from your motivation for writing, whatever that is. I don’t write fiction because I know for a fact I have no interest (not consistently at least) in exploring a myriad narrative plots or characters backstories , or to polish my prose, or to figure out how to best keep interest while narrating something. These do occur to me from time to time but I’m not driven to exploit that vein. It’s different with designs though, where I do. I look at different materials and I’m compelled to experiment with them at least once. The list goes on.
If shame or shyness is the only thing stopping you, remember, you don’t need to publish anything you don’t want to. Start, see how you feel, remember you can always revise work later on.
