As a proud owner of a 23 month old toddler, I can confirm that even my specimen is larger than that, and I could not dream to achieve that kind of velocity.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Me watching someone on Lemmy getting cooked for having the same opinion as me:
1·22 days agoI regularily jump into the comment section of minutephysics video about portal paradoxes. I will die so hard on the hill that the sentence “speedy thing goes in, speedy thing comes out” is a simplification where the full sentence would include that speed is relative to the respective portal.
Yeah, the numbers seem wild to me. I live in Norway. I have family who lives up north among polar bears, so they have gun for bear protection. My in-laws do some hunting, so they have a few hunting rifles. I feel like my family and in-laws are far above the regular citizens when it comes to gun count per person, but it still averages to around 0.5 guns per person among us. I don’t know anyone in Norway who owns a gun to defend against other humans. Who are these 10%?
Yeah, I guess it depends on the game a lot. I occasionaly watch Rocket League. It’s just pure reaction, muscle memory and quick movements, so basically no one in the top matches are above the early twenties.
I would rather not be a part of any stiff-ass wedding where the morthal combat theme is unacceptable.
As someone interested in e-sports, it’s a bit harsh to see the top players agree that 20-25 is way too old to be good.
It has been several years since I last handled coins of my local currency. How am I supposed to know if my neurons are spicy?
A collegue of mine did this. She just laughed and said “that’s right” before leaving the teams meeting. My boss, confused still in the meeting: “well… I guess we’re not getting the description of the API today…”
I need answers. What is the tcp/ip part? Like are we talking Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol?Punching oneself seems like a crazy concept to begin with, but adding the tcp/ip is very confusing. “Over tcp/ip” as in “because of it”? Or are we speaking cardinal directions - he was physically above something running tcp/ip? Or is it “over tcp/ip” as in that he broadcasted it?
Abso-no-fucking-lutely way

4·2 months agoYes, it’s as you stated, a reference to donald duck. A very loose reference.
Also, I’ve tried to find any reliable sources for this story at previous occasions, and it seems like it’s fully made up. The working conditions have reportedly been abyssmal which is likely the origin of the story, but that specific story is not real.
It aligns with that the US and Israel are terrorist states. Aiming for targets which spreads the most fear and despair seems to be a part of their plan. Making parents reluctant to send their kids to school is an efficient way of imobolizing people.
It’s an illegal war in the first place, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a continuous stream of war crimes going forward.

3·2 months agoGod damn, it’s 5:50 AM. My brain just cannot handle this post right now. I’m uncontrollably chuckling even though I’m not convinced that I understand this post, as previously mentioned.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Tech CEOs Confused by Why Everybody Hates AI So Much
22·2 months agoThe integration of AI into regular, deterministic software bothers me a lot. As a developer, I want my IDE to be consistent so I can feel comfortable that autocompletion and other functions do what I expect. But recently, and at an accelerating rate, I find the IDE to make inconsistent autocompletions - often suggesting a lot more code, which often contains errors and non-existant references.
I could use AI every now and then for work, but I wish it only helped when I’m explicit about it. Currently, it kills workflow and sucks out energy both from me and the grid.

3·2 months agoYep, and I think that anti-trans rights people would be more than happy to throw other people under the bus to assure that trans people lose their rights.

13·2 months agoI’m worried that this is a distraction to introduce a similar, but somehow less widespread bill. Like “oh boy, yeah this would disallow more women than intended to vote. Here’s the new bill that only disallows people with unmatching first names to avoid voter fraud (or whatever).” …And thus trans people can’t vote.

9·2 months agoI initially looked up a few servers, then I chose one with decent size and no prohibitive policies. Less than 24 hours after creating the account I got banned without reason. I appealed. No answer.
I guessed I was just unlucky, so I found another decent looking server. After creating an account, it took around 2-3 hours and I was banned. I appealed. No answer.
I guess the username was a bit too random andmaybe looked like it was created by a bot. It had a lot of random letters, but it was my usual username. I would assume an appeal would sort it out. Or atleast lead me to an answer.
So my third attempt, I chose another server which looked fine and created a user with a simpler username. A few months later, the server shut down.
So now I’m on my 4th account.
It’s not like it was a huge hassle to create the accounts, but it’s also not like the system is without issues.

I think the point is that it’s not a linear scale when comparing energy of the vehicle to energy transferred during impact. It flattens out drastically at higher vehicle masses, and the value of the energy becomes a false or skewed argument against heavier cars.
