How on earth would the EU possibly do this given the entire structure is federated?
They likely don’t even know what Lemmy is.

Whomst
I have seen no reports

Piefed does this

Manually appointed by mods.

You could just make a “trusted users” role for comms for this
No leaderboards

Feeds also cannot share the same name as communities, unfortunately. But I don’t see that. But I wonder if it also is the same for users…
Your username may be the problem.

Well there will always be instances that defederate almost nothing. There are now.

You can speculate another platform might come up that some hardcodes in it the impossibility to deplatform other instances, but all I’m saying is that Lemmy and Piefed will not do it.
But even then, it’s a stretch because the tools required to remove seriously illegal content are the part of the same tools that would function as defederation tools. So it probably can’t be hardcoded out.

It is 100% impossible lol. Rimu won’t do it. Lemmy devs won’t do it.

They can block for themselves. This for me comes down to a thing I have not talked about in a awhile but what I would like to see in the federation. I would like no defederation or unreversable domain blocking.
This will never ever happen.

But I’m not quite sure what you’re saying here. I don’t know what piefed.zip’s policy is, but whatever you post on !fedimemes@feddit.uk should remain on there forever, and only be purged locally on piefed instances that have decided to remove old posts after X period of time.

Save on space. It’s set up on a community-by-community basis. It’s turned on for a bunch of meme communities on piefed.social and some caustic ones.

This is a toggle for particular communities that Piefed admins can turn on. It’s purely done to safe space. In the case of piefed.social, which this applies to here - Rimu chose it for most meme communities because he doesn’t value them in the grand scheme of things.
Piefed is different software to Lemmy. The instances are different.

What? I thought you were also claiming, as the other poster that you referred to claimed that by default piefed blocks “meme and 4chan communities”. It does not.

Okay, crossed wires then.

So yes it is what it does by default.
I didn’t contest the parts about the image detection or greentext (although again, it’s literally just a tickbox). I objected to the claim about “meme and 4chan communities” being blocked. That was the untrue part.

It’s not the communities but the material being blocked when images are scanned.
The original comment was: “piefed hides all meme and 4chan communities”. No it doesn’t.
Seems unnecessary… The more I learn the worse piefed looks
Instances can turn it off if they want. Most do. It’s just a little tick-box.
