I think you may have overlooked the part about “first party interface”.

Technology@lemmy.world•Sam Altman's 'human verification' company thinks its eye-scanning orbs could solve ticket scalpingEnglish
12·10 hours agoBecause you can hand someone else proof of purchase. The only way to truly prevent scalping is by verifying the purchaser’s identity, to ensure they cannot transfer it to anyone else. At least not without selling it through the distributor’s own channels where they will then collect a fee for the privilege of providing the proprietary platform to facilitate such transactions.
I’ll take the scalping, thanks.

26·13 hours agoPlayed the demo and it was pretty great but I’m not going anywhere near anything with Denuvo.
Okay now get rid of the in-video ads and AI slop and I might consider actually using a first-party interface again.

6·14 hours agoUnfortunately this is why assassination is usually a bad choice. “Head of the hydra”, making a martyr and all of that. It’s contradictory to the goal.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump says gas prices 'not very high' as most U.S. voters blame him for price spikeEnglish
154·2 days agoIts hilarious to me that so many people put so much stock in fuel prices, and think The President is solely responsible for them. Fuel prices are actually crazy complicated and The President generally has very little control over them (unlike in this case).
Honestly I prefer the fuel prices to be higher to persuade the population to make better choices. I understand some bear that pain more than others.

Europe@feddit.org•EU Is Rolling Out an Online Age Verification App That Could Become the Global BlueprintEnglish
4·2 days agoI can’t read Gizmodo but if it’s the EUID app, this has been in the works for years.
As for why it’s suddenly accelerating? Age verification = ID verification. The gov wants to know who everyone is. They want unparalleled access to information.
Also companies like Meta are seeing the writing on the wall, and instead of pushing back, they’re pushing forward, but steering it away from them.

Thanks. I’m not entirely pro-piracy but in the case of Denuvo I will make an exception.
