If you want a genuine answer, people are upset because you’re expressing a centrist opinion. Centrism more or less advocates for maintaining the status quo. The status quo sucks for most people.

You’re also equating the far left with the far right. To understand why this is upsetting, we can look at some basic definitions. If someone is on the Left, they are generally in favor of more equality, while those on the right want more hierarchy. Equality and hierarchy are opposites. You can see this in a more concrete way by comparing the goals of far-left organizations to the goals of far-right ones.

I think a lot of the confusion comes from the Cold War. Countries like the USSR and China would claim to have far-left intentions while acting in right-wing ways. You cannot achieve left-wing goals through right-wing action.

Even the term “Communist country” is an oxymoron, because Communism advocates for a stateless society, and governments never voluntarily give up power.

Been using Linux for about 8 years now. My DE of choice has pretty much always been XFCE. Here’s an overview of the distros I’ve daily driven.

I tried NixOS for about a year before switching back to Arch recently. There were just too many problems I couldn’t find a solution to, and I realized that the advantages of an immutable OS just aren’t that important to me.

Arch really is a dream to use, and the setup is pretty easy if you use the archinstall script. And most importantly, their wiki is amazing.

Government never has and never will be beholden to the people. When we put someone in a position of power, we become beholden to them. The whole idea that the people consent to being governed is ridiculous because we’re never given the option to vote against having a government.

Have you considered that the people were only given two options, bad and worse? The bad option wasn’t working out for people, so they decided to try the worse one, and now we’re here.

There are countless examples of the government ignoring popular demand. Extensive polling shows that most Americans support a wealth tax. It’s not going to happen because almost every politician is paid for by billionaires. Have you heard of super PACs?

Here’s an interesting article on why the guillotine may not be a very good symbol of resistance. The TL;DR is that it’s always been used as a tool of state violence, and that you can’t get rid of billionaires by just killing them all.

Direct democracy would be less hierarchical than what we have currently, but it’s still a hierarchy of the majority over the minority. So long as government exists, the decisions of the majority will be violently enforced upon the minority.

Unless of course you’re referring to direct democracy without law enforcement, but I wouldn’t exactly call that a government.

I agree that things would be better without shareholders, but wouldn’t government corruption still be a problem? For example, shareholders aren’t profiting from mass deportation or tariffs. These sort of abuses would still happen without shareholders because they aren’t motivated by profit, they’re motivated by racism and nationalism. The way I see it, we need to get rid of all coercive hierarchies, government included.

I got into MeshCore after Benn Jordan mentioned it in a recent video. Turns out there’s already a network spanning hundreds of kilometers in my area. I’m making a couple companion nodes so I can communicate with my partner, who lives an hour away, in the event of an emergency where there’s no power or internet. Also making some solar repeaters to improve coverage in my area.
