What’s the best way to explain stereophonic sound? Clouds might just have found the answer. Marking their first release of the year on Steel City Dance Discs, the Berlin/ Glasgow duo unleash another dose of unforgiving music, with the highly atomic ‘Diesel Halo’.
Opening up with a rising string and rattling hats, the trademark kick and rumbling bass arrive in full force, before an old-skool vocal and breakdown of hardcore piano chords swoop in and engulf the scene in a blanket of euphoria. But, as always with Clouds, there's a twist, and you can never get too comfortable: bruising stabs quickly interject the space, before settling on a low, rolling bassline for the vocal to soar high above, as the euphoria returns once again.
