Tribak is excited to present our reissue series, TimeClapse, which spotlights the golden era of bedroom producers from 1999 to 2006 in West Jerusalem. This series will bring rare and previously unavailable music straight from our vaults to light for the first time in digital format.

Our fourth release is Lost & Found by DJ Yayehe, a beat tape of unreleased material recently by a Jerusalem underground legend.

Yayehe S. Mehari was a sound engineer who, in the mid-'90s, was part of the Holy City rave scene as part of the "Electronic Front" collective.

In those wild jams, he met Alon Ovnat, with whom he formed the duo Gaza. Gaza released two albums on the Fact label, featuring an eclectic mix of genres ranging from trip hop to electro and techno to IDM.

As a solo artist, he released an album named Cafeya in 2000, along with guitar player Erez Nataf. His sound as a solo artist tends more towards melodic music with heavy hip-hop influences. In 2004, he also released Amhara Experience, a collection of field recordings from his homeland, Ethiopia. This fascinating documentation features street artists known as Azmare.

After this fruitful period in the early 2000s, he focused on creating music for theatre and film and presented an audio-visual show at the C-Sides festival.

Sadly, Yayehe passed away in 2021. His music will continue to resonate through time and space.
