Hey all!
I recently had a phone call with my Nana, who moved back to England about twenty years ago, but lived here in Canada decades before doing so. I recently mentioned to her how my roommates and I got our hands on a bunch of zucchini, and how I shredded and froze it before it spoiled, hoping to make zucchini bread out of it.
She immediately suggested I try out the recipe from one of the Company’s Coming cookbooks. Long story short, while I didn’t find the specific book she mentioned, I did find the recipe in one of their “Best of” books that I bought, and it was great.
She told me she used to collect the whole series when she lived here, and how it frustrates her that she can’t find the books anywhere in England. She used to work at West Edmonton Mall a lot over the years, and she told me apparently they had a store of some sort where people could sample the recipes from the books and such, though she did mention it didn’t last too long.
Google (which I used begrudgingly) pulls up a business listing for a “Company’s Coming Bakery Cafe” with no reviews that appears to be what she’s talking about. I was able to find some stuff designed for it by a certain company, and was able to find a Yelp page for another one that seemingly used to be in Londonderry Mall?
I was wondering if anybody here knows anything more, or if they even have pictures of either of these locations or if they existed elsewhere as well. The fact that they used to have physical locations is so intriguing to me, and I’d love to learn more.
