I’ve drawn this over and over in my notebooks for years, usually to signify the end of one thought and the beginning of another. It developed out of little sketches I do in my notebooks.
So for me it’s like an ouroborous, a continuous practice made up of continuous beginnings and endings. The sort of interrupted geometry and impossible nature of it looks like a folded looping, a progression that is mystified and not immediately apparent from my perspective.
Ive honestly never put a lot of thought into the meaning, its a little doodle, but I keep coming back to it, ive practiced it and tried different iterations until I found one that felt right. It has some meaning, but as its inventor I dont really know what it is. And that seems like the point.
I love, LOVE symbols like this. It looks like it’s referencing infinity, but the way it breaks up that flow implies something far subtler! I’ve personally worked on similar sigils myself! You can check my posts in ArtShare if you’re into sort of thing.
My search needs a keyword, usually I just look for the letter e, and I didn’t find anything super similar to what I drew,
BUT!
I absolutely love your septogram, I have a fascination with polygons, and I love this! Also your character art style is very cool and relaxed, kinda reminds me of Matt Groenig’s style from Simpsons or Futurama, but in no way derivative, just sort of accessible and fun, cartoony but expressive. I’d love to see more!
That’s the one I was referring to, yeah. Same sort of idea, playing with a common symbol in a way that tricks the eye and suggests hidden meanings. And thanks for checking out my art! Doing Inktober was the highlight of my 2025, I should get back into daily art.
