Waukesha is Wisconsin’s Republican bulwark, one of the most famous white flight suburbs with a reputation reaching nationwide among the electorally engaged. The Democrats campaigning in Waukesha didn’t even seem to believe they would succeed. This is on the scale of Blue Texas. It’s unbelievable.

idk one republican retired and another one lost by a few hundred votes

WAUKESHA, Wis.– Common Council President Alicia Halvensleben will serve as Waukesha’s next mayor.

The city of Waukesha held its first open-seat mayoral race in 20 years.

In the race for Waukesha mayor, Common Council President Alicia Halvensleben and state Rep. Scott Allen ran to replace Mayor Shawn Reilly, who did not seek reelection for a fourth term. Allen has been one of the most conservative Republicans in the Legislature since his election 2014. Halvensleben was the preferred candidate of the Waukesha County Democratic Party.

Reilly is an independent who left the Republican Party after the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. He endorsed Halvensleben.

not to dismiss the important struggle of the people of wisconsin, but why do we give a shit about a no-name small town mayoral election with no interesting people involved?

It’s not really no-name, it’s very infamous nationally for being an insane Republican stronghold. The state just went 60-40 in the supreme court election, down from like +3 Trump, causing outlandish results like this.

I’ve heard several different instances of political commentators using Waukesha as an example and they’re from like New York or California. In Wisconsin we call it “Walkersha” after demonic union busting governor Scott Walker

This nearby town also voted for the liberal Supreme Court justice:

Here in Wisconsin we love Beer, Brats, and 'Bortions

That’s Menomonee County which is entirely a Menomonee reservation, and I think they just voted very heavily against Trump and more evenly in this race, so it’s not even a good result for the Republicans
