I got got this way with some bonds that my grandmother bought me when I was born. They were some kind of long term bonds that took a very long time to mature. I had no idea that I even had them, they were in my parents closet or something, and my parents completely forgot about them as well. I was like 35 when they gave them to me. At that point they had been fully matured for a very long time, but because of inflation, the buying power of the money earned actually made them worth less. I forget the exact numbers, but it was like:
$100 matured to $200
But a quick lookup with an inflation calculator, $100 from the year I was born showed that it had the same buying power as $280 now. So the $100, while going up in number, actually went down in value. Certainly better than keeping the $100 under the mattress, but that sucked.
Oh and it was significantly more than $100. Nothing near life changing amounts of money, but probably money that I could have used earlier in my life - to help with student loans or something. When there was less inflation.
When I was 19 I was in a band with this really strange kid. He was super charismatic though, and just seemed to make friends with anybody he met. One of those people happened to be this 40 year old bus driver. We went over his place one time to smoke a joint, and he showed us his grow room. This was in like 2005 or so, so all very illegal. He got in my face about not telling anybody and how I better not be a narc. Anyway… Then we ate some pot brownies and watched a movie. The brownie I ate wasn’t doing anything so I ate another and learned a very important life lesson about edibles. If you’re not feeling the first one, don’t eat the second one. I was high as fuck. Banished to the shadow realm, some might say. Took a few hours to regain my composure and walked home. It was a weird fuckin night.
So yeah. Probably anecdotal but “what do school bus drivers do when not driving a school bus?” - grow weed, and eat pot brownies with teenage punk rockers and watch movies.

Joints look good! I would maybe look into cleaning the contact pads on the bottom of the cartridge though. It may work fine now, but those things can corrode and it looks like yours may have already started. A liitle preventative maintenance could extend the life by quite a bit.
Side note on soldering - isn’t it crazy how easy people make it look in YouTube videos and what not? Like, they always just heat up and flow so perfectly and so quickly on the first try every time. I guess it comes with experience. It took me a long time to get the hang of it, and I still can’t do what those folks do. Anyway, your solder looks great. Proud of you, too.
Farquaad lineage.

Glad somebody else posted it. Glad it still exists. Some of the internet is still hilarious and amazing.

I’m doing my part!

WINAMP WINAMP WINAMP
It really whips the llama’s ass

A broken clock is right twice a day.

I like to follow it up with:
“Someone’s dream”
“Living the dream” is sort of a sarcastic way of saying “not awesome”, and the follow up is a “but it could be worse” - kind of eases the tension a bit. Like “I’m hanging on by a thread, but I’m not starving or homeless, so all things considered, I’m doing fine”
It’s called Black Emperor and it’s awesome. It’s an “Indie Arcade Game” which is a thing that is starting to pop up, and I am here for them. I hated the direction that arcades were going in - which has been shitty phone games on gigantic touch screens.
Black Emperor is a game where you are a dude on a motorcycle, there is a throttle button, and the wheel to go up and down. The challenge is that the screen is moving along and you need to stay on it. Too fast, you die, too slow, you die. But you have to also stay on the path or you slow down. There are also dirt strips you need to boost through. It’s almost like a modern Excite Bike, but super challenging and awesome.
Oh, also the top front of the arcade cabinet has some big ass fans, and when you pick up speed they blow in your face. It’s sick.

The front fell off.

“Epic is technically paying us to use it, and we still won’t use it”
I think it’s because it feels like an obvious bait and switch. We’ve seen it so many times over the years. Services reel people in, get them hooked on their platform, then enshittify them with ads and paid subscription tiers etc. Like everything that Epic does just seems so desperate, and that makes me belive they can’t be trusted. “Please bro. Please install Epic. Bro I’ll give you free games. I swear bro, I won’t start scraping your data and selling ads. Trust me, bro. Please”
I’ve known people who have had the same issue and they not only turn it neon green but turn on mouse trails to an extreme degree. If you draw a little circle with your hand it’s very easy to spot.

I use my slow cooker here and there for convenience, but I feel like no matter what I put in it, it just tastes like slow cooker. Not that it’s bad, but strangely similar even when I use completely different ingredients.

Or do what I do and wash things as you cook only to realize that you’re going to need the thing you washed to finish whatever you’re making. You get to do 3x the cleaning per 1x cooking.
This is easily avoided by doing a tiny bit of thinking with a pinch of foresight.
I am not a smart person.
I always got more of a middle-eastern vibe from Gerudo Valley. Their clothing has kind of a belly-dancer thing going.
An of course their logo was on the ammo crates for the nail gun. Because if you have an automatic nail gun, nine inch nails make the perfect ammo. You’re not going to kill shamblers with 23ga pin nails.
I work for an org with ~1700 Surface Laptop 7 ARM deployed. They are actually really nice. Managing them with Intune is a breeze (including BIOS management), and Windows ARM is actually getting 3rd party app support now (Thanks, Apple!)
Yes, yes. Microslop, I know. But we are talking end user computing here.
