4·13 hours agoOh yeah, and then duck walk up all the way to the roof and escape that way. Man, I have got to watch some old Jackie Chan movies. Great at a bar with the sound off. Because who cares about the plot? When he rips a parking meter out of the side walk with his bare hands and goes bananas on like 20 guys. Then the one woman gangster kicks his ass.

9·17 hours agoI tried making original stories and got baffled replies like, “what is this in reference to? I’m not familiar with this series.” I made it up MYSELF! Apparently this is wrong and bad. I used to wonder why all TV sitcoms were the same and this is why.

8·17 hours agoI very vaguely remember it. Wow, it was a long time ago I quit using reddit. Honestly it surprises me that people still use it. The mods and admins are terrible, terrible people.

91·17 hours agoNo, walking down the alley you can touch the walls. It’s an an area of town that’s being redeveloped. They said inside some of the houses they found parts of the old city wall which was torn down in the 1950s. They had just built houses using the city wall as part of the house. It’s going to be a tourist trap when it’s all done. A pity, it used to be one of my favorite old row of run-down dive bars on this street (not in the alley). Waltz in at 3:30am and there’s people there, music playing and you might see someone you know. No state alcoholic beverage commission mandatory closing time in China.

8·17 hours agoBoxing is divided into weight classes because a larger man can punch harder due to physics. Used to be, anyway before Don King ruined it with rampant corruption. Now it’s all UFC and boring.
Go to Thailand and watch the smaller kickboxers. They’re awesome.

5·3 days agoThe K visa is new, and people don’t know how it works yet, really. China is always like this, it takes the bureaucracy a while to figure things out. Never expect a reply by email, visit personally if you want any kind of reply. No telephone calls.

9·3 days agoWas he a native Esperanto speaker like George Soros? China doesn’t have birthright citizenship and never had. Only ethnic Chinese from abroad (华人) are eligible for citizenship. Births in China are registered at your embassy and the child becomes a citizen of that country. If both parents are foreigners, that is. For mixed race babies it gets complicated. At 18 they have to choose one or the other. China doesn’t allow dual citizenship.

6·3 days agoOnly the Big 5 (US, UK, Canada, Australia and South Africa) were ever considered native English-speaking countries. The double rectification closed all the private English training schools on the theory that just because your parents are well-off shouldn’t mean you get a better education. Thus the only English teachers left are the public school ones.

5·5 days agoI played these before Ultima Online came out. I was baffled that nobody seemed to actually play the game but just seemed to want to talk about bullshit. What you were “supposed” to do was make it to level 50 and then you would be a wizard and could create your own game content. I didn’t want to do that! I just wanted to play video games! In a new and exciting way, over telnet on this new internet thing. The loss of the text-based internet was something we’ll never get over. The worldwide web and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.

7·9 days agoChina is making all the right moves. Which is nothing. “The only winning move is not to play.” – WarGames(1983)

It’s an undisclosed location. China is like America where there are only two cities, Los Angeles and New York. The rest isn’t even flyover territory. It’s a no-go zone, except maybe Xi’an for the terracotta warriors (totally not worth it.) The only cool part is they have shops on the way there where you can get a terracotta warrior made with your face. One of my old buddies had one in his office. A pudgy white man’s face, I guess that’s a thing you can do if you have the cash.
