Debuting her first EP, “Spirals,” the Syrian-born and Berlin-based producer and DJ Majdolen delivers four distinctive tracks of overlaying sonic narratives.
Each track serves as an aural memory of her personal and sentimental experiences, crossing and blending sub-genres from ambient, electronica, trance, and techno, leaving us with mood impressions ranging from delicate and gentle to powerful and unsettling.
As in every spiral, every track emanates from a point, moving farther away and continuously varying its sound as it revolves around its point of beginning, emotively rising or falling with steady acceleration.
“Spirals” stands as a reflection of a long personal journey, where Majdolen steps away from controversial breaks and drops, as well as unchallenging sound-design and production methods. Instead, she invites us on a transformative sonic voyage, where each four-on-the-floor spiral crosses the confines of the club environment, unveiling narratives that haven’t been widely explored, offering a fresh perspective, and shedding a light on Majdolen’s world of sound.
Travail de dingue sur les sonorités ! Je ne sais pas par quelle magie ces fous furieux ont réussi à sortir ces fréquences, mais une chose est sûre : woooooooooow ! paxleson
Nice 3 track EP, title track reminds me of the Prodigy in parts but with added cow bell and quickish tempo, shared on YT, Cheers Maara / Amor Suttcliffe
