Unglued is travelling through time once again with Timestretch: Future, the third and final chapter in his evolving EP trilogy. Landing on 26 February, the release presents a forward-facing interpretation of Unglued’s vision for drum & bass, tying the three-part series together in a cohesive and confident finale.
Setting the tone, pre-release single ‘Who Dis’ (12 February) is heavily distorted, aggressive and precisely juxtaposed. Playing with light and dark, clean strings are balanced against weighty basslines, showcasing Unglued’s technical finesse and control.
Next, Unglued links up with Bristol’s SMG for the first time on ‘In My Mind.’ Dark and brooding, the heavyweight collab sees both artists firing on all cylinders, with mind-boggling sound design and moreish vocal cuts.
On ‘Downslider,’ Unglued momentarily dials back the intensity, allowing the track to build before flipping it on its head - steadily driven by pulsating undertones and that classic Unglued crunch.
Rounding off the project, Unglued and Tian join forces with Comma Dee on ‘Hibernate’. Bouncy yet suspenseful, the EP’s focus track spotlights warped synthwork, dark tones and infectious bars.
For drum & bass enthusiasts everywhere, Timestretch: Future closes the chapter on Unglued’s Timestretch series - a clear expression of his creative vision, and a dedication to the genre’s past, present and future.
