This reminds me of a positively ancient piece of software from the late 90s that would draw ripples in the root window of your X11 session. Got a link to the source?

6·5 days agoTo be fair to Framework, the 12 is a 2-in-1 with a touchscreen, which is not something that’s currently offered on any of Apple’s laptops and at least partially accounts for the extra cost. Of course, economies of scale play a part, as well.

12·5 days agoThen why do they keep having to roll back what seems like every update they release due to some major bug?
I’m a big fan of Fedora Kinoite, though it does make messing around with things outside of the few system directories they’ve marked RW pretty annoying. Trying to change things in /usr, for instance, is convoluted but not impossible, but I’ve had to go in there less and less over the years to the point that I don’t think I’ve touched it directly in probably 3 or 4 years. That makes the upside of having atomic updates worth it for me.
Now if only they could figure out how to apply updates without rebooting, that would really be something, but even then I’ve had a lot of bizarre issues happen from applying updates without a reboot on Fedora, so it’s kinda worth it IMO.

Dude says in the post that he just wanted to see what happened. If idle experimentation makes one an imbecile, then I suspect your standards for stupidity are out of line with reality.

1·11 days agoI think there’s a free trial of the HiFi version, which is what I have. Sound quality is significantly better than other services, since I’m pretty sure they use FLAC when it’s available, and high-bitrate MP3 (I think) for their low-bandwidth mode. Either way, their lowest-quality encoding settings are better than Spotify’s old top-tier ones.

2·11 days agoIt does, though it’s not exactly front and center on certain apps. For instance, in my car, I had to scroll most of the way down the main screen to find the radio stations. They are very good, though. They give a decent mix of stuff you’ve favorited and things you’ve never heard before, with the notable exception of the Steven Wilson radio station, which plays almost exclusively bands that Steven Wilson has been in, which alone is more than enough to fill up a whole radio station.

41·11 days agoTidal is quite good for music. The selection is missing stuff at times, but that usually doesn’t last long since I’m pretty sure that only happens when there’s some kind of contract renegotiation or something.
