    Yeah but who cares, even if you use a piefed account responding to a piefed post in a piefed community you can’t do anything that’s not yet implemented in Lemmy on mobile because none of the clients care about piefed. That’s the problem when you move fast, break things, and expect others to catch up.

    To be fair you can 100% have a PC that’s too old and/or too low speced to run Linux with certain desktops. For example I personally wouldn’t use a PC with under 8gb of ram today if I wanted to run a modern desktop and Wayland compositors basically require (or soon will) Vulkan 1.0 support (for Nvidia that’s Kepler GK110 or later, AMD GCN 1.1 or later, and Intel Broadwell or later)

    Technically speaking you don’t need a bootloader to boot Linux, with uefi of course you can use efistub and just boot from there but you could also have a separate Linux distro on a USB stick than chroot into your main one. Hell even if you uninstall the kernel there are still ways to repair the system.
