I want to play the game, but I can't really access the upgrades menu. I can only move around the initial upgrade

The title made me initially expect something very dark and possibly horror-like, so I was pleasantly surprised by how cute and cheerful the whole experience is. The graphics and music make it feel kind of like a retro Amiga game, in a good way. Unfortunately I agree with some of the other folks here that the gameplay is derivative and doesn't really stand out, but as an audiovisual experience, I still enjoyed this. I LOVE the music; was it made especially for the game? You might want to release the soundtrack separately, as it might distinguish the game more than the gameplay.

Linear progression is pretty boring.
Missiles are overpowered while everything else seems pretty worthless.
I thought it was interesting at first but the novelty wore off far quicker than I expected.

if i go fullscreen the game is like this on upgrades page

and resume doesn't work

what happened to the music? every time I navigate through the upgrade menu, the music gets interrupted.

amazing game, missiles is the way to go if you want a easy life

Played all the way through and was surprised to see how it ramped up towards the end, like I was getting ~50k gold a round when the upgrades were costing only 3-4k. I suppose that means there are more expensive upgrades planned for longer runs?

if possible, please let us remove all the shakiness... everything jiggles and shakes a bit too much

would be nice to know what the augments do

Movement of the skilltree seems locked, with the radius centered around the feuture content. Mabye increese the radius, because the outer skills are not in range after the demo is done.

Nice game but some UI elements are hard to read

Game runs fine for me in browser. A bit repetitive gameplay, but I guess that's what you're going for.

(+3)

Two issues.

1. The augments need tooltips. I had no idea what they did just based on the names. I picked extra hands first and it did not seem to do anything. In later more dense levels I figured it out, but it would be nice to know.

2. The end of demo screen does not fit on the screen. I could only see the bottom half of the logo and the top edge of the return to main menu button. I only know what the button does because I clicked on it.

IKR most of the new incremental games on itch now has the same loop, one game mechanic, a time limit, a skill tree, repeat. I get that's what has been selling on steam (like astro prospector) but I would like to see something new. In my opinion, games like these are at best mini games, I'd recommend a game like Cauldron which blends all the incremental sub genres into one.

I like the artstyle, gameplay is pretty similar to a lot of games so far. Unfortunately the performance is very rough for me on browser. The gameplay and music both get really choppy. I played one round with my first augment and stopped there due to it.

I'd be down to give it another shot if the performance is significantly improved.

Upgrades don't work on Mac. The upgrade tree just generates stacks of images that slide across the screen.

Edit: It works when you turn off CRT filter and go into fullscreen.

Edit 2: You have to keep switching between fullscreen and...non-fullscreen for it to work.

shit, thanks for that, i'll get a mac to test

Music sounds like shit. I think it's a performance issue.

what does the purple fire do? i don't understand it like it does nothing

If you hit it, it collects all currently visible coins for you.

There are a lot of games with this exact game loop pouring out right now, so I'm not sure how well it'll stand on its own without more unique mechanics (assuming the goal is a full release)-- but I have to say, this is one of the more polished ones I've seen! The UI is really smooth and reactive / enjoyable to interact with, & I really like the pixel art, especially upgrade screen guy and his animations. Once again very smooth and looks good. + The sound design, too.

Only thing I have to say about the UI, is that I would love for at least an option to disable to the controls tutorial on the upgrades screen, it it doesn't go away on it's own. It's not really necessary after you buy the first upgrade or two, and imo it makes the screen feel crowded. I feel as if removing that huge bar and positioning the Money count and Continue button elsewhere; such as a corner where it doesn't obscure prime line of sight for the upgrades you're intended to interact with, would be much less obtrusive.

(while I agree that it would be good to have an option to disable the CRT filter, it's not *that* bad, and people shouldn't be so aggressive about it. The way it's implemented here looks good imo, and I would keep it on, even if I understand why it may be a hard pass for some people. Just as an aside.)

I did not play very long, because I unfortunately feel this gameplay loop of hover-plusing to kill is heavily saturated, but this game does have some nice polish, visuals, and potential. I just wish it had gameplay equally as polished and a bit more unique / interesting, to go with the good visuals / UX / UI designs / plot (parody?) potential!

Also, I listened to the music while writing this review, and it's very fun. Again, I have to say, the overall artistic design is really good! I will definitely keep an eye on this game and see where it goes!

Trying to run the downloaded .exe, it's saying it's corrupted

Do coins automatically pick up at end of round?

(+1)

No, but I am currently working on upgrades to make them automatically merge into higher value coins and making the auto pickup more available

(+3)(-1)

People need to stop making games with this CRT filter crap. The games look terrible and just hurt the eyes.

(+3)

Thanks for the feedback, I'll be pushing a new version in a couple of hours with the option to disable it

Thank you! Without the CRT filter it looks much, much better!

(+2)

fun little game but at the end the game chugged super hard on the shear amount of dummies and coins. (Brave Browser)

hey thanks a lot for playing, i'm working on improving that thanks for bringing it up.

can you tell me if it got boring at any time? I'm also trying to improve the scaling and progression.

(+1)

didnt get boring really. finished it in like 10-20min, and only started lagging on the last 3 perks

(+1)

Very fun little game!

Skill tree doesnt work

Should be fixed now, thanks for reporting :)

(+1)

Fun little game! It worked perfectly on Firefox

Thank you for playing :))

(+3)

Hi there! The skill tree is broken on this web build :(

(1 edit)

Hey! Thanks for attempting to play the game and sorry for the inconvenience there :(

Can you tell me what you experienced?

(+3)

When you enter the skill tree, you can't click on the symbol, and it creates another symbol partially overlaid with it. The rest of the screen is black, and you can't do anything else.

(+1)

Thanks a lot man, I'll investigate and try to fix it, it is probably related to a specific environment.

In the meantime I'll publish the win/linux/mac builds, sorry for disappointing :/

(+3)

It's okay. Go at your own pace. I am more interested in the final product than the time it takes to get there. Hope you have a good day!
